Do You Have What It Takes To Be An Affiliate Marketer?

January 3, 2006 12:37 am

Each of us has its own interest or has a hobby. Some love all kinds of books, music, and movies while others are into sports and traveling.

There are also people who love to grow flowers and loves pets. These things help us to relax and forget our everyday problems and troubles and these things are common to people.

But not everyone has a hobby that makes money for him/her except if you love your job.

Money making hobby could let you treat your family and friends with the extra cash or you can even quit your current job that you almost certainly hate.

That is why many of us today go online to start a business; their reasons are either to supplement their income or to gradually replace their offline income from their job. Affiliate marketing is a great way to start in making money online.

Affiliate marketing is a revenue sharing partnership between a web merchant and one or more affiliates. The affiliate is paid a commission for referring clicks, leads or most often sales to the merchant.

An affiliate’s advantage is that he can make money in a business where he doesn’t have the upfront costs of creating his own product, and he doesn’t have to worry about e-commerce, bookkeeping, or even customer support for it is the merchant’s responsibility.

Now, for sure you want to be an affiliate marketer with all that benefits an affiliate could get. But, do you have what it takes to be an affiliate marketer?

Before you begin your venture into affiliate marketing, you need to decide first which area interest you. What products do you know the most and which products you could do the best job of selling?

Once you discover your specialty, perseverance, patience, determination comes next. These are the qualities you should possessed to be a good affiliate marketer.

Too many online business prospectors lose out because they become impatient.

You also have to know what your strengths are, the things in which you are good at and your capabilities and abilities related to your chosen streak.

And the most important thing is you have to have a strong desire to succeed in affiliate marketing.

To be an affiliate marketer is not an easy task. You have to learn the techniques of marketing your product or service. You shouldn’t be looking at every chance because marketing is all about attracting you to look at this or that particular opportunity.

To be a successful affiliate marketer, you should learn how to listen and to be taught because in life we need to learn skills to get by.

For an affiliate marketer, you should know how to market your site effectively, in will enable you to get thousands of visitors coming to your site which transforms into more sales.

This only means that the faster you set up a website, the bigger your chances of making money online faster.

You should avoid the same mistakes some affiliates make everyday, they are only building a short-term business where they just make a small sale.

Make sure you do understand that you should be building a long-term affiliate business and not just something that makes you a few dollars on one sale.

It is also better to have knowledge on how to upsell your visitors for expensive services. This will in turn make you become recognized as an expert in your field and making money will be easier.

There are some people thinks that just by having affiliate links on their website will bring them good profits. This can have some truth to it, but then most successful affiliates still believe that making use of strong marketing campaigns for their affiliate programs is still important.

But affiliate marketers become much more successful when they treat their customers or online visitors as friends. Make a commitment to establish relationships with your customers and especially with visitors to your site.

It is very important for an affiliate marketer to have a good business relationship with customers or visitors.

You should also be creative. The real key to being successful with affiliate marketing is to develop a good content based website and weave your affiliate links into all your content.

You have to provide your prospects with good, quality content to keep them coming back to your site.

So, do you have what it takes to be an affiliate marketer?

You’ve finally realized that you need a good opt-in list.

Good!

After reading countless articles and reading many success
stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in
lists you finally decided to have one of your own. Then it
happens, you think you know everything there is to know
about opt-in lists and have followed all the advice and you
still aren’t able to make a profit.

In fact, you may be losing money. You maybe hiring writers
or there are some other expenses incurred. You may even
have a big list, but only a very small percentage actually
buys from you.

So what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded
where you have failed?

The most common mistake is that you dived straight right
in. You chose a topic where you thought was popular and
would earn you money. This is just not the case. Just
because you write people from the list doesn’t mean they
are going to buy from you instantly.

Don’t worry, help is at hand. If have started an opt-in
list and have failed, or if you are just starting, here’s a
quick tip to help you start building and profiting from an
opt-in list…

… Get your customers to trust you and your products first!

Just launching your opt-in list does not make you an
expert. Write a number of articles first before you start
your opt-in list. Write about topics you know and are
interested in. Frequent forums to gain knowledge about your
customers and target their wants and needs.

Join forums and provide advice and recommendations. When
you feel that people trust you, start your own opt-in list.
Put up a link to your site so that they may be able to see
what you’re business is all about.

When your subscribers believe and trust in you the money
will only begin to roll in. People are not going to buy
something you recommend if they don’t know you.

3 Keys to Maximizing Your Advertising Dollars!

So you got your website up and running. You hired an
excellent web designer to craft a perfect home page and
satellite pages that will really draw in the visitors and
inspire them to buy.

You have a beautiful catalog of products with detailed
descriptions. You have a section dedicated to the services
you provide with praises from past customers.

And you have the best online shopping cart service out
there so that you customers can buy from you with no
hassles and next day shipping. That’s great! Now where are
your customers?

Driving traffic to your website is a much discussed and
much misunderstood venture.

There are a million theories out there that claim to drive
tons of new visitors to your site daily. There are services
that say they will increase your traffic by an enormous
percentage if you will only pay them their small fee over a
period of fifty years.

There are so-called experts who will place your pages on
all the best search engines on the net. They claim that
with this kind of blanket exposure, your traffic numbers
will explode within days.

But the only sure-fire way to draw productive traffic to
your website is through targeted marketing. The important
word to notice here is “productive.”

You can draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to your
site every year by hosting a giveaway of some kind.
Services that search the internet for freebies will have
people clicking a link to your site like crazy. But these
people are not there to buy anything from you … quite the
opposite. They are empty clicks.

There is nothing productive about this kind of traffic.
People looking for free stuff will rarely make you any kind
of money. And that’s what you’re after, right?

So target your marketing to the people who really want to
buy what you have to offer. How? Start by trying these
basic steps…

* Hire an experienced copywriter.

The copy that is on your site makes a world of difference
in the sales you garner from the internet. Most important
to targeted marketing are the keywords found in your title
and the metatags in the website’s code. An experienced
copywriter will know how to determine the most effective
keywords and place them strategically in your site’s copy.

If you cannot afford a copywriter, do some research and
talk to your web designer about inserting metatags.

* Enroll in pay per click search engines.

Obviously, google.com is one of these, but most of the
most popular keywords are already taken. If you can think
of some original phrases that people use to search for your
products or services, you can post your ad next to the text
that comes up when people search for that phrase.

Every time someone clicks on your ad to go to your site,
you pay google.com a nominal fee.

* Submit articles to free ezine sites.

This is especially helpful if you are a service provider.
You can write, or hire someone to write, an article for you
about your area of expertise. Give some free tips, offer
your experience, and be accessible in the text. Then at the
bottom of the article, you get a link to your website
advertising your services.

Every time someone publishes your article in their ezine
or newsletter, they must use your web address at the bottom.

These are just a few of the many ways to ensure you get
“productive” traffic. Empty clicks are just that …
empty… and your wallet will stay that way, too!

This Week’s Trivia Answer
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

H’ere’s the answer to the trivia question I asked earlier…

Who invented the windshield wipers?

During a trip to New York City, November of 1903, Mary
Anderson noticed that streetcar drivers had to open the
windows of their cars when it rained in order to see, as a
solution she invented the windshield wiper.

No Excuses Exercises!

It’s old news that exercising is the single best way to
spark up your weight loss efforts. The activity perks up
your metabolism, and eats up more calories. In addition,
the more you exercise, the better the effect. Exercising
builds muscle mass, which is denser and more compact than
fat.

That means your body has to expend more effort to pump
bloodthrough it, and it requires more nutrients to keep it
healthy. The end result? Even at rest, your body naturally
burns more calories.

Unfortunately, the prospect of exercising tends to elicit
groans from most people. There’s all the logistics to work
out - the time,
equipment, expense and the sheer, utter boringness of it
all. Negative thinking about exercise can sabotage all your
good intentions.

Here’s a list of answers for some of the most commonly
used excuses not to exercise.

I don’t have time to exercise!

Exercise could be one of the most important things you’ll
do for your health today. MAKE time to exercise. If you’re
doing traditional workouts - move those weights and mats
right out into the family room and make use of your
television time.

Instead of flopping down in a chair while you watch the
news or your favorite show, be active.

Run in place, do leg lifts or heft weights. Use time in
your car to tighten and tone muscles with isometric tummy
tighteners. Walk up the stairs instead of using the
elevator. Exercise doesn’t have to be a solid hour at the
gym. Anything that revs up your motors is great for your
body.

I don’t have the right equipment at home.

You don’t need equipment to exercise. A brisk walk around
the block is good for you - and burns over 200 calories.
Vacuuming your carpets can burn nearly as much. Flip on
your radio or pop in your favorite high-energy CD and dance.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking that your exercise’ has
to be a carefully planned workout to work all the right
muscles in the right order with the right tension. Exercise
means being active. Just do it.

I can’t afford a membership to the gym.

If you’d rather exercise at the gym (and have access to
their fitness machines, whirlpools, swimming pool and
trainers), there are a lot of ways to make it more
affordable.

Check with your health insurance company to see if they
offer incentives. Most of the major health insurance
companies, including Blue Cross, cover part or all of
fitness club memberships as part of your benefits.

If yours doesn’t, or if you don’t have health insurance,
call your local YMCA or YWCA. Most offer ’scholarships’ or
sliding fee scales for memberships to their facilities.

But exercise is such a chore!

Says who? Make getting your daily exercise fun. Play a
game. Go dancing. Grab a few friends for a weekend hike in
the state park. Exercise doesn’t have to be routine. Stop
thinking of it as a chore and start thinking of it as
recreation. You’ll be amazed what a difference it makes.
