Understanding Ebooks - Pros & Cons Of EBooks

August 30, 2006 8:33 pm

An ebook is a digital or electronic copy of a book. Just like email is digital mail.

With the advancement of technology an entire library can be referenced and indexed just at the tip of your fingertips. Millions upon millions of text can be stored in devices that get smaller and smaller every year.

Ebooks have certainly opened more doors for us to enjoy literature.

Books in digital form can be indexed and searched for a particular text in a flash. With the advancements in technology even e-books captured in image formats can be searched.

Ebooks take up less space. An entire volume of encyclopedia can be stored in a single compact disk.

Devices for reading ebooks make it possible to read even in low light

Texts in ebooks can be magnified, changed to a different font or color. This feature will enable handicapped readers an option for possibly reading more books.

They can be converted to audio books using text-to-speech software.

They are versatile and readily portable to different media and platforms.

Distribution and Reproduction can be done instantly and at a low cost.

Errors can be easily rectified just like downloading a patch for software.

Publishing requirements aren’t as difficult to produce as requirements for normal books. They can be published by independent publishing entities.

They are relatively cheaper and easier to maintain.

Ebooks are easily converted to any format desired even to a database.

The potentials of ebooks may be limitless but they also have their disadvantages. Some advantages of ebooks over standard books can also be a double edged sword.

They cause eyestrain. Extended periods of reading can also cause other health-related problems.

You always need a power source for your device for you to be able to read, unless you print the ebook.

Electronic media wears and tears easier than standard books. A scratched CD might be useless compared to a book with a torn page.

Has no more ‘collectors item’ value to it. There are no rare ebooks.

Certain software requires upgrades and can cause incompatibilities.

Proves too easy to be copied illegally. Copies can just be sent through emails.

Types of Ebooks.

Ebooks come in different formats. Each format was designed for a certain purpose. The most common formats used for ebooks are as follows:

Plain text, is the most basic format of them all. Plain text can be easily read by almost all computers and related devices.

Image files, these books primarily comprise of snap shots of the pages of a book. Zooming is possible but may compromise the quality of the displayed item.

Rich Text Format (RTF), is a standard file set by Microsoft Corporation. RTF files like HTML (HyperText Markup Language) files; they are text files that have special tags or markups.

Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), quite similar to an RTF and an HTML, the main difference is that the markups can come from sets that can vary.

eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is derived from (SGML) also a markup language but using a markup set that conforms to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standard

TeX is an ebook format that is popular with the academe. It specializes in ebooks for math, science and computers. Its best feature is in representing mathematical formula.

PostScript is defined as a page description format. It is used essentially in desktop publishing. PostScript files have the ‘.ps’ extension

Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format by Adobe Systems. A widely accepted format for its robustness and many features.

eReader is file format normally associated with Palm Digital Media electronic books (Palm Digital Media)
Ebooks from digital Media are usually encrypted. Readers are required to buy the decryption key, which are usually the credit card number and the buyer’s full name.

Publishing ebooks are proving to be profitable especially with laws regarding electronic copyrights are becoming stricter. Ebooks are great sources of reading material some of them you can actually get for free. There are numerous web sites that offer writers a place to showcase their writing. In a way writers gain public exposure and readers get variety. The quality is often good.

No matter how many kinds of ebooks out there, no matter how trivial or important the advantages or disadvantages of ebooks, ebooks are definitely here to stay.

Use OpenOffice (open source) to easily create Your PDF files.

5 Hot Viral Marketing Ideas to Explode Your Business

Viral Marketing is without question one of the fastest
ways to grow your online business. There’s no other way
where you can you leverage off the work of hundreds of
other people, without virtually any effort (or cost) on
your part.

With so much competition and rivalry on the net, every
method of marketing must be employed and utilized if you
are to succeed.

With that in mind, here are 6 ideas to help you start your
viral marketing campaign:

1. Purchase the branding rights to a viral ebook.

Allow people to rebrand the book with their affiliate
links and then let them give away your ebook to their
visitors. Then, their visitors will also give it away. This
will just continue to spread your ad all over the Internet.

2. Set up a forum or other bulletin board.

If you have are technically gifted, you really have a
great skill at your fingertips. Simply offer to set-up
forums
for other people or allow people to use your online
discussion board for their own website.

As payment for your work, just request to include your
banner ad at the top of the forum or bulletin board. Not
only will you get backlinks to your site, you will also
generate free traffic.

3. Do you have a knack for web design?

Create some templates, fonts or graphics and upload them
to your site. Then allow people to give these away. Just
include your ad on them or require people to link directly
to your web site in return.

Make sure that you include a link back to your site in the
copyright notice and require them to keep your copyright
notice in tact.

4. Write a short 5-8 page report.

Include a page in the report promoting your newsletter or
website and capture the email details to build you own
list. Then allow people to give away the report to their
visitors or readers.

You could even allow them to include an small ad in the
resource section of the report as an incentive for them to
give away the report.

5. Write articles that pertain to your product or service.

Allow people to reprint your articles on their website, in
their newsletter, magazine or ebooks. Include your resource
box and the option for article reprints at the bottom of
each article.

6. Create a free product/membership site.

With the number of scripts available nowadays, it’s very
easy to create your own free membership site. All you need
to do is find some PLR or resell products that you are able
to offer in your membership to entice people to join.

Then create a killer One-Time-Offer and provide an
affiliate program so others can begin promoting your site
to earn commissions. You’d be surprise how effective this
method is in building your list and generating profits.

Gaining the Trust of Your List Quickly!

While many people have gone to great lengths to create
barriers to keep their email accounts from receiving what
they consider spam-related email that promote various
products, there are also those who welcome these type of
emails.

This is mainly because these subscribers want to know more
about what these sites are offering and can be beneficial
for them. They expect to get be kept posted on what they
are interested in and what are new in the market or field
they have chosen.

Most marketers would be so lucky to have these kinds of
readers and the basic element needed to get these types of
readers is trust. When your readers trust you they will
reward you with their loyalty and respond to your
promotions.

With a list of loyal subscribers who trust you and are
eager to receive your updates, the messages you send
containing your promotional materials, newsletters and
other valuable information will get read.

The faster you can build a responsive list, the faster the
word about you and your site gets spread around the net.
And it goes without saying that the bigger your opt-in
list, the more traffic you get and the more sales you make.

It’s easy math if you think about it. However, getting the
numbers is not that simple though… or maybe it is?

Gain the trust of your readers!

Gain your readers trust isn’t all that difficult if you
operate a legitimate online business. People rely on other
people who know what they are talking about.

So the first step you need to do is to research as much
knowledge and information you can about your market niche
and then pass it on to your list.

If your readers and potential customers perceive you as an
expert in their area of interest - and you provide valuable
content that solves their problems - they will trust you
quickly.

In other words, show your clients that you know what you
are talking about.

Provide them with helpful hints and guidelines that
pertain to what you are selling. Talk about how to install
a roof if you’re focusing on home handyman tips or provide
articles on insurance settlements if you’re a settlement
lawyer.

Be true to your customers!

If you want to hype up your products and services, provide
results and proof. The more satisfied customers you get,
the bigger probability there is that they will recommend
you to their friends.

Generally, people will trust someone they know, when that
someone recommends you then you’re a shoo-in. They will go
to your site and check it for themselves and be given a
chance to experience what the others have experienced, so
make sure to be consistent in the service you provide.

Provide them an escape hatch!

Show them that you are not there to trap them. Give them
options that allow them to unsubscribe anytime they want.

Provide them with information on how to unsubscribe from
the list. Guarantee them that they can let go of the
service whenever they want to. Remember that when you get
the trust of your clients you should do whatever you can to
keep this trust.

Effective Marketing Strategies

How to Increase Believability For Greater Results

When your prospect reads your copy, you want to make sure
they believe any claims you make about your product or
service. If there is any doubt in their mind, they won’t
bite, no matter how sweet the deal.

It’s a known fact that the “too good to be true” mentality
will virtually guarantee a lost sale…even if it is all true.

So what can you do to increase the perception of
believability? After all, it’s the perception you need to
address up front. But of course you also must make sure
your copy is accurate and truthful.

Here are some tried and tested methods that will help:

- If you’re dealing with existing customers who already
know you deliver as promised, emphasize that trust. Don’t
leave it up to them to figure it out. Make them stop, cock
their heads, and say, “Oh, yeah. The ABC Company has never
done me wrong before. I can trust them”.

- Include testimonials of satisfied customers. It doesn’t
matter that your testimonials aren’t from somebody famous
or that your prospect does not know these people
personally. If you have enough compelling testimonials, and
they’re believable, you’re much better off than not
including them at all.

- Pepper your copy with facts and research findings to
support your claims. Be sure to credit all sources, even if
the fact is common knowledge, because a neutral source goes
a long way towards credibility.

If you’ve sold a lot of widgets, tell them. It’s the old
“10 thousand people can’t be wrong” adage (they can be, but
your prospect will likely take your side on the matter).

- Include a GREAT return policy and stand by it! This is
just good business policy. Many times, offering a double
refund guarantee for certain products will result in higher
profits. Yes, you’ll dish out more refunds, but if you sell
three times as many widgets as before.

- Reveal a flaw about your product. This helps alleviate
the “too good to be true” syndrome. You reveal a flaw that
isn’t really a flaw. Or reveal a flaw that is minor, just
to show that you’re being “up front” about your product’s
shortcomings.

Example:

“You’re probably thinking right now that this tennis
racket is a miracle worker-and it is. But I must tell you
that it has one little…shortcoming.

My racket takes about 2 weeks to get used to. In fact,
when you first start using it, your game will actually get
worse. But if you can just ride it out, you’ll see a
tremendous improvement in your volleys, net play, serves,
…”

There’s a tendency to think, with all of the ads that we
are bombarded with today that every advertiser is always
putting his best foot forward, so to speak. And I think
that line of reasoning is accurate, to a point.

But isn’t it refreshing when someone stands out from the
crowd and is honest? In other words, your reader will start
to subconsciously believe that you are revealing all of the
flaws, even though your best foot still stands forward.

- Use “lift notes”. These are a brief note or letter from
a person of authority. A person of authority is someone
well recognized in their field (which is related to your
product) that they are qualified to talk about. Lift notes
may be distributed as inserts, a separate page altogether,
or even as part of the copy itself. As always, test!

- If you are limiting the offer with a deadline “order by”
date, be sure the deadline is real and does not change.
Deadline dates that change every day are sure to reduce
credibility. The prospect will suspect, “if his deadline
date keeps changing, it’s just a fake offer”. And they are
right.

This is your chance to speak out.

Comment on articles I’ve run in the newsletter, give me
your thoughts on changes or your ad testing results or
questions relating to your business, etc.

In other words, just talk to me about what you think I
need to do to improve the newsletter.

Be sure to include your website address too, because if
I use your comments in a future issue of the newsletter,
I’ll thank you by posting your address so that you can get
additional free traffic to your site!

That wraps up another week’s newsletter and I hope you
enjoyed this issue.

Don’t forget to send me any comments or questions you
may have to the Feedback Loop. I would be only too happy to
help you in any way that I can.

From time to time I’ll send you important updates
that will provide information that has the potential to
greatly improve your online business… and of course
your profits!

However, you can rest assured that I will only ever
recommend products that are considered to be of HIGH value
and will provide indisputably benefits to help you grow
your business… that’s my guarantee!

What a strategic alliance is — and how it can work to YOUR advantage!

August 25, 2006 6:48 pm

One of the most common “win-win” business arrangements is
known as a strategic alliance.

I know… “strategic alliance” sounds like something you’d
hear in a Star Wars movie. It’s really just a fancy term
describing a business arrangement in which the partners work
together to help each other make MORE money.

Businesses join forces and form strategic alliances all the
time. In fact, you probably run into examples of them every
day — literally!

Ever stopped off for a burger at the McDonald’s restaurant
inside your local Wal-Mart? Or enjoyed a cup of Starbucks
coffee inside a Barnes & Noble bookstore?

Then congratulations! You’ve had a run-in with a strategic
alliance!

How do these arrangements benefit the businesses? Think about
it… When Starbucks has a shop inside a big bookstore like
Barnes & Noble, it gets to put its products right under the
noses of a whole lot of potential customers.

(And who doesn’t like sipping a cup of coffee or tea while
flipping through a brand-new book or magazine?)

Barnes & Noble, meanwhile, is happy to play host to Starbucks
because its customers won’t have to leave the bookstore to
get their daily caffeine fix.

And the more time people spend inside the store, the longer
they’re exposed to all those books — and the more likely
they are to make a purchase!

But it’s not just the “big guns” like Wal-Mart, McDonald’s,
and Starbucks that can benefit from strategic alliances.
ANYONE can boost their profits by teaming up with a company
that sells complementary products to the same market as they
do.

For example, a dog kennel could promote a local pet groomer’s
services, in exchange for a “cut” of every sale.

Or a golf shop could partner up with a local golf pro and
recommend his lessons to their customers — and in exchange,
the pro can encourage his clients to buy all their clubs and
accessories at the shop.

With the right business partner, you can put your products in
front of new customers and get fresh new products to sell to
your existing customers. You can expand your reach AND boost
your profits — talk about a “win-win” situation!

And the great thing is, strategic alliances are ESPECIALLY
effective for online businesses…

Read on to discover why!

——————————————————–

The top 5 ways to make strategic alliances
work for YOUR site

——————————————————–

Thanks to the Internet, it’s now easier than ever to get into
“win-win” relationships with other businesses — and generate
HUGE profits doing so!

That’s because online tools like email, web sites, and blogs
make it SO MUCH easier to reach your customers and build
rock-solid relationships with them.

And with useful tools like search engines, you can find other
reputable businesses who sell to the same customers — and
then work together to promote each other’s products.

Everybody wins!

Here are five of our favorite ways to ramp up revenues by
forming strategic alliances with other businesses:

1. Enter into a “link-exchange” partnership: You put
a link on your site that leads to your partner’s
homepage, and your partner does the same for you!

If you have a a catalog-style sales page, for example,
you could put a discreet ad in your sidebar or link
to your partner’s products.

2. Promote someone else’s products in your newsletter
or blog for a percentage of each sale: Your
“advertisement” could simply be a link and a bit of
salescopy, or it could written as a detailed product
review. Whatever works best for your market!

*NOTE: Affiliate programs are an EXTREMELY effective
way to find new products to promote in this way… And
you can learn more about my own affiliate program here:

http://www.marketingtips.com/assoc

3. Build credibility through third-party endorsements:
Get to know the experts in your field! Send them free
samples, if possible, so they can become familiar with
your product. Give them a chance to be impressed by it!

Then, if they like what you’ve got to offer, ask them
for a personal testimonial endorsing your business. In
exchange for their endorsement, you can offer them
increased exposure and publicity — because their name
and business will be put in front of YOUR visitors!

You might even consider given them a small percentage
of your sales. If their endorsement directs a big
enough swarm of customers your way, it’ll probably be
worth it!

And that leads us to our next strategy…

4. Capitalize on your OWN good name: If you’re known as a
respected expert in your field, people are going to
value your opinion and listen to what you have to say.

So if you come across any products or services your
customers might like, why not contact the businesses
that sell them and offer to give them an endorsement in
exchange for a small fee or percentage of each sale?

Not only will you boost your revenues, you’ll get
increased exposure and be able to spread the word about
your business to your partner’s audience, as well!

Finally, one of my favorites…

5. Buy the reprint rights to someone else’s product:
When a company has a product like a book or a video
that they’ve been selling for a while, they may be
interested in extending that product’s lifespan by
looking for ways to introduce it to fresh new markets.

This creates a great opportunity for you to get your
hands on a well-established, successful product you can
offer to your own customers.

When you buy reprint rights, you get all of the files
and documents you need to reproduce the product –
and you’ll often get a tested and proven salesletter
as well.

So, all you have to do is put up the salesletter and
start collecting orders!

Best of all, you get to keep 100% of the profits!

Those are just FIVE of the ways strategic alliances can help
you SERIOUSLY ramp up your profits.

But there’s no limit to the ways you can establish mutually
profitable relationships with other businesses.

You could even go all “old school” and enter into a barter
agreement with another business!

For example, if you’re a great writer, but can’t build a web
site to save your life, you could partner up with a design
team who could build your web site FOR you.

In exchange, you could write their salescopy for them. That
way you both get what you need — without any damage to your
bottom line!

Or, if you had a gap in your skill set and you found someone
whose expertise filled that gap, then the two of you could
team up to create a BRAND-NEW product you could BOTH sell to
your customers, then split the profits 50-50!

And that brings us to our next “win-win” business arrangement…

——————————————————–

Partner your way to bigger profits by selling
joint venture products!

——————————————————–

Let’s say you’re a building contractor who sells do-it-yourself
eBooks on how to build your own house addition.

Your customers have told you time and time again that they’re
desperate for advice on how to make sure their new additions
don’t stick out like a sore thumb.

They want to know things like how to blend different building
materials or create seamless transitions between the addition
and the original house. In short, they’re looking for exterior
design information.

But YOU can’t help them, because you don’t know SQUAT about
design!

So here’s what you do…

You partner up with a reputable designer and work together to
co-author an eBook that combines YOUR construction know-how
with your PARTNER’s design skills… and then sell that
product to your customers and split the profits right down
the middle!

Not only that, your partner could then offer her offline
services through a link on your web site, in exchange for YOU
getting a cut of every sale!

Not bad, huh?

THAT’S what joint ventures are all about — businesses teaming
up with each other and pooling their expertise to create new
products they can sell to both their customer bases.

Joint ventures may take a little more effort than strategic
alliances… but when you partner with the right business,
you’ll have a great new product to sell to your customers.

And THAT will make your hard work totally worth it.

Trust me, I know!

Last year, I teamed up with eBay millionaire Brandon Dupsky
to develop a product that combined MY Internet marketing
expertise with HIS insider knowledge of eBay…

And the result was a comprehensive how-to course that teaches
people EVERYTHING they need to know to ramp up their eBay
auctions and explode their online profits!

In fact, a customer recently wrote me an email saying that
after he read our Insider Secrets of an eBay Millionaire
course, his auctions started getting SEVEN TIMES the number
of bids they’d been getting before!

Not only that, he’s been able to build up a loyal base of
repeat customers — and boost his successful sales rate to 99%!

Now let’s look at a couple more examples of savvy entrepreneurs
who have used strategic alliances and joint ventures to add
new streams of income to their businesses — and SERIOUSLY
flood their bank accounts!

——————————————————–

An “organizational guru” who makes an extra $47,000
a year — promoting OTHER people’s products!

——————————————————–

Maria Gracia of GetOrganizedNow.com makes an incredible
$375,00 a year — telling people how to clean their rooms!

Well, she actually does a whole lot more than that…

Her site offers a TON of useful resources that teach people
everything they need to know to organize all aspects of their
lives — from their homes, to their offices, to their
day-to-day activities.

Maria’s “anchor products” are books and organizational systems
she’s developed herself. But she’s formed a number of key
strategic alliances with companies that were EAGER to have her
promote their products.

And it’s not hard to figure out why… Maria’s site gets 20,000
- 30,000 visitors a week, and her popular free newsletter goes
out to more than 150,000 subscribers.

Talk about a swarm of potential new customers!

And the great thing for Maria is, she doesn’t have to go out
of her way to find businesses to partner with. In fact,
companies usually approach her!

In addition to her own products, she sells…

* Organizational tote bags that help people manage their
personal items

* A household filing system for important documents

* A get-out-of-debt program created by a professional
financial adviser

And she also promotes the services of a “relationships”
business and a motivational company on her site.

Thanks to these added products and services, Maria’s business
generates an EXTRA $47,000 a year!

——————————————————–

How this “Online Trader” traded his way up to $150,000
a year — with a little help from his friends!

——————————————————–

Richard Grady started out online selling novelty items on
eBay… But when his competitors started asking him WHERE he
got all his great wholesale stock, he knew he’d stumbled on
to a exciting new business opportunity!

These days, Richard’s pulling in a sweet $150,000 a year,
teaching people how to find high-quality wholesale and
drop-shipping products.

His main products are eBooks and subscriptions to private
members-only web sites — but a healthy chunk of his income
comes from strategic alliances and joint ventures.

Like Maria, Richard regularly promotes other people’s products
in his newsletter. But he’s also worked with partners to set
up some long-term joint ventures.

One of his partners is a major US wholesaler who approached
him to see if he’d be interested in setting up a co-branded web
site, in exchange for a commission on sales.

Richard thought it sounded like a good deal, so he said yes –
and it turns out he was right!

Richard and the wholesaler worked together and set up “The US
Trader Warehouse,” which sells HUNDREDS of wholesale items.
Now, every time a customer buys one of those products, Richard
gets a cut of the sale!

——————————————————–

Find the partner who’s right for YOU — and then hit them
with an offer they CAN’T refuse!

——————————————————–

Thanks to the Internet, finding a suitable business partner
is now easier than ever. All it takes is a bit of research
and creative thinking.

Here are some tips to help you get started…

1. Start your hunt with the free search engines: Pretend
you’re a customer and run searches for the kind of
information your market is trying to find online.
Then look at the results that come up.

Which listings are for businesses that are trying to
sell something to your market? Check them out! See which
businesses offer competitive products, and which offer
complementary ones.

Take special note of sites that belong to the second
group — they may become your future business partners!

2. Record your first impressions. As you explore the
businesses that sell to your market, jot down your
initial thoughts about their sites. Which ones seem the
most professional? Which did you want to spend the
most time exploring?

THOSE ONES are the winners!

Remember, the average Web user spends only 10 seconds
checking out a web site before deciding whether or not
it’s worth a closer look. And if YOU don’t think a site
is worth exploring, neither will your customers!

3. Use the Alexa Toolbar to give potential partners the
“once-over.”: The Alexa Toolbar
( http://download.alexa.com/index.cgi )is a cool free
tool you can use to discover all sorts of killer
information about a web site.

You can find out how long the site’s been up and
running, how much traffic it receives, and how many
other sites are linking to it. You can even read user
reviews!

If the site’s been around for a few years, has lots of
steady traffic, and has a good number of sites linking
to it, then it’s a great potential business partner.

For more information about the Alexa toolbar and its
features, check out this link:

http://www.marketingtips.com/newsletters/?article=art_april05b

4. Don’t forget to look offline for partners: Are there
any “brick and mortar” businesses you could partner
with?

For example, if you sell real estate advice online, is
there a particular real estate agency you could refer
your customers to, in exchange for a fee?

Or maybe you run an online restaurant directory. Maybe
you could get local restaurants to advertise your
directory — in exchange for a mention in it, of
course!

5. Contact potential partners personally — and be
PROFESSIONAL: A phone call or face-to-face meeting is
FAR more effective than an email.

Live contact helps you establish a personal relationship
right off the bat. Potential partners will take you far
more seriously, and you’ll be able to answer all their
questions on the spot — and make it harder for them to
say “No”!

Just make sure you come to the table with a strong
argument! Clearly explain EXACTLY how they would
benefit from a relationship with you.

If you can’t present them with compelling evidence that
PROVES you can help them increase their profits, why
should they bother doing business with you?

The bottom line is, BE PROFESSIONAL. The better you present
yourself to your potential partners, the more eager they’ll

What To Do When SPAM Blockers Do Not Work

August 23, 2006 12:45 pm

If SPAM in space makes Hormel executives smile, SPAM in cyberspace makes them grimace, and understandably so. That’s because they’ve watched their carefully cultivated international trademark become generic Internet slang for unwanted junk mail. How and when SPAM entered the Internet vernacular for junk mail is anyone’s guess, but the fact remains that when someone sends you unsolicited junk mail, netizens (citizens of the Net) will say you’ve been “spammed”.

In the olden days, the most popular way to fight spam was also the easiest. All you have to do is to delete the spam mail on receipt, and never, ever reply to spam mail. Though, this could be a very tedious work especially if you receive tons of spam messages a day.

Nowadays, computer geniuses had come up with a greater, more effective, and relatively easier way of blocking the spam mail. This cyber space super hero comes in the form of a spam blocker. With spam blocker, blocking mail from spammers is just a click away. Though, there are instances that spam blockers malfunctions or they just don’t operate effectively.

That’s why in times like this, it is extremely important for you to identify a potential spam attack instantly. A relatively slow system performance could trigger your instinct for red alert, as this might be a potential spam attack. There maybe instances that your system is no longer capable of receiving emails. This may be due to a slow processing of hefty amount of mails, or your spam blocker was not able to detect a spam and your system had already suffered a spam attack.

In the event that your spam blocker was not clever enough to know that an imminent danger is on the way and you discover that you are a victim of spamming, it’s a must that you do the following:

First Aid #1: Know your “enemies”!

Don’t be left in the battle staring at a blank wall. Do a little investigation and know where your email had come from. You can do this by checking the headers, and immediately reconfigure your proxy servers to curb another possible entry of that same address.

Tip #2: Ask for help.

Advise your current Internet Service Provider or ISP for any spam attack. Ask them if they can change the settings of their proxy servers to impede another attack when the suspected address will be able to penetrate to your system again.

Tip #3: Do a little investigation.

Follow up with sites that possibly hosted the attack, like the ISPs you identified in your investigation of the problem, so as to alert them to the activity.

Tip #4: Go for the professional.

Notify the any group that works with the Internet community so as to smooth the progress of its replies to computer security incidents involving Internet hosts. These groups provide 24-hour technical assistance fro responding to computer security incidents, assistance, seminars, and technical documents.

Tip #5: Look for the best strategy.

Usually, e-mail clients provide their own spam blockers. Also, you can also block spam mails through firewalls.

Also, there are other alternatives wherein you can use a different strategy for blocking spamming. You can use a smap. Or you may resort to more simple options like updating your e-mail software and maintaining patches, updates, and bug fixes given by your e-mail provider.

There are many ways to get spam blockers on the Internet. All you have to do is to shop around and look for the spam blocker that could serve you best.

In reality, there is no way to actually prevent e-mail spamming. However, through spam blockers you can at least protect yourself and decrease the likelihood of a spamming attack.

Moreover, doing these five simple steps may not guarantee absolute solution to the problem or may act as alternatives for spam blockers. Keep in mind that as you try to identify the source of the email, the author of the attack may be under an alias and attempting to hide his or her true identity. Thus, it would be harder for you to prevent further spam attacks.

Indeed, it’s almost impossible to actually prevent spamming. However, you can put up a good fight through educating yourself about unwanted commercial email and spam. As they say, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

“You Must Be Your Best Customer Before You Can Succeed”

As an affiliate marketer your main purpose is to
effectively promote a product or service and to find
customers.

For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to
convince your potential customers that certain products and
services would help them to achieve their personal goals
or fix a problem they may be experiencing.

However, it is difficult - no make that almost impossible
for you to do this when you yourself are not your best
customer.

By this I mean that you must first test the product or
service yourself BEFORE you promote it to your list.

If you do not own the product or service yourself, it will
show in your sales copy and you will not be able to
convincingly explain the benefits or disadvantages of the
product your are promoting.

As a result, your list will be able to instantly spot this
and you will lose any credibility you may have built with
your readers.

Many new affiliate marketers make this mistake and they
pay dearly for their actions with a lack of sales. In order
to succeed you need to avoid making the same mistakes.

You need to first try the product or service personally
before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it really
delivers what it promises.

Then simply give an honest and unbiased review of your
thoughts on the product and if it helped you, tell your
readers how it did, and how it could help them.

If you do this, you can become a credible and living
testament to the product. Your customers will then feel the
sincerity and truthfulness in your copy and this may just
be the trigger for them to try it out for themselves.

Take the time to analyze your marketing strategy and check
if you are on the right track. If done properly, you will
be able to begin generating more sales and earning a
higher online income in no time flat.

“A Real Life Example of Mega Successful Viral Marketing”

The most effective way to learn is to analyze examples of
real life success stories and then implement what you’ve
learned for your own benefit. Here is one such example of a
truly amazing viral marketing campaign…

The Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) was chosen to
showcase the world-famous exhibition for the Lord of the
Rings Trilogy. HMNS quickly realized that while the exhibit
was expected to generate a great deal of interest, it
didn’t have a lot of appeal for their core audience.

The success of the exhibition therefore would rest in how
it was marketed.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science quickly called in
Spur Digital to help reach the targeted demographic
audience and generate interest in the Exhibit. HMNS was,
also, hoping to acquire new patrons and members to further
their future revenue.

Spur digital worked with HMNS to identify the target
market for the campaign and developed an integrated online
media plan to reach those audiences.

The campaign featured an online contest that was marketed
through targeted online media outlets including relevant
Web sites, Search Engines and third party E-mail lists.

Viral marketing was an important component of the
campaign, so Spur developed an innovative strategy to get
people to refer their friends.

Spur identified the target audience as males 18 to 34
years old who were fans of action and fantasy films,
frequent video game players and movie renters, tech-savvy
who generally didn’t hang out at museums.

Based on this information, Spur chose search engine
advertisements that would accompany specific search words,
dedicated email advertisements, sponsored email
advertisements, banner ads on web sites targeted toward the
desired audience, and emails to the HMNS list.

Did it work?

You bet. The results were excellent. The impact of the
viral marketing effort was astounding - over 23% of
registrants originated from the Tell-A-Friend feature. The
direct marketing efforts yielded impressive results as well.

In total, the 12 week locally-targeted online campaign
yielded more than 2 million targeted impressions, 40,000
unique visits, almost 12,000 and 6,000 invitations sent by
friends at a cost per action of less than $3.00. These
contributed to the record attendance of almost 100,000 over
3 months.

This only proves that viral marketing works - and works
extremely well. So if you’re not employing viral marketing
strategies in your business, such as creating viral
reports, articles, videos, contests, packages, etc, then
you could be leaving loads of profits on the table.

The “3-Toed” Formula for Making Money Online!

What do you have to do to start making money online?

The answer to this is not rocket science and you will be
shocked at how simple it is. But you’d be surprised at how
few people take action once they find out how the answer,
yet they continue to wonder why it is they still can’t make
money.

So what is the answer?

Well to be honest, there is no ONE answer, but rather a 3-
step formula that you need to follow in order to actually
generate a profit from your online business. We like to
call this our “3-Toed” formula as it is very effective and
more lethal than a starving T-Rex :-)

Step 1…

Even the greatest businesses in the world will go broke
without a constant stream of highly motivated visitors
looking at what they have to offer. So the first thing you
need to do is to drive hoards of hungry visitors to your
website.

This in itself is without doubt the hardest part of
creating a successful online business. However, even if
you’re a complete newbie, there are numerous methods of
driving traffic to your site and the strategies you use
will be dependent on your timeframe and you budget.
The Newbie Club is a good place to start.

While getting traffic is a very important step, it is only
part of the solution. Once you’ve done the hard work and
started driving visitors to your websites, you then need a
strategy to convert them to customers and this leads us to
the next step.

Step 2…

Nothing else is more vital to your success than having a
group of loyal responsive subscribers you can send messages
to. You can read all the books you want. You can scan
through all the ecourse you can get your hands on or you
can attend as many thousand-dollar-a-day seminars as you
can afford.

But a the end of the day none of this matters unless you
have a list of people you can market to each and every
month. It’s as simple as that!

So the second part of building a successful online
business is that you NEED to build your own list of highly
responsive subscribers. Your list is the lifeblood of your
business and building a responsive list should be the MOST
important thing you ever do.

The bigger your responsive list is… the more money you
will make. Once you’ve built a sizable list, you can
virtually quit your job and work online full-time knowing
that you have a secure income coming in month after month.

So start building your list TODAY!
Step 3…

Once you’ve started to drive traffic to your site and
you’ve got a strategy in place to capture the contact
details of these visitors, the final step in the equation
is to promote backend products to your list.

In doing this you also need to ensure you also provide
quality content to your subscribers so as to build a
relationship and to gain their trust. Simply sending one
promotion after the next won’t cut it. If you do this, then
you will soon find that your subscribers will abandon your
very quickly.

The trick is to provide a mixture of useful information
that will help them grow their own business, while at the
same time offering your subscribers quality products or
services they want.

But a word of warning…

Don’t ever promote something just because it benefits you
more than your subscribers. If you do this, your
subscribers will quickly figure out that your only goal is
to suck their wallets dry and you will lose their trust.

You MUST put your subscriber’s needs before that of your
own so as to build trust.

You MUST only ever promote quality products that are
highly relevant to your list and you personally use and
sincerely believe in. Just be honest, present the facts as
they are and let your list decide for themselves if they
want it!

Doing this may cost you a few sales in the short-term, but
you will earn 10-fold in the long-term because your
subscribers will grow to trust you.

This then begs the question… how often should you send
your subscribers a message?

This will be different for each market and depending on
your niche it will vary from between 2-5 times per week.

But regardless of how many times you send out emails, as
long as you are providing quality content and you’ve built
a relationship with your list, you will find that most
subscribers will be happy to receive your emails.

Put your list building on autopilot with My Software Gold Mine
automation sofware.

What Is Viral Marketing And How Does It Benefit Internet Marketers?

August 18, 2006 12:44 pm

The practice of viral marketing can be very useful to Internet marketers. Viral marketing consists of giving away free products or services along with your original ad copy such as links, contact information, and mailing list. In return, those who receive your free products can pass it along to their own customers and prospects. Viral marketing is a great way to advertise for free and without a lot of effort on your part.

Internet marketers should be aware of the value of viral marketing. The ability to advertise your products to a large audience is of great value to you. You can increase your sales and traffic to your web site through the sharing of free information. Some of the more effective methods of viral marketing are:

Ebooks. You can share your free ebook with all who visit your web site. You should include an advertisement for your most profitable product and links to your web site. Make sure to inform those who receive your free ebook that they are free to share it with their own customers and contacts.
Or you can brand other people’s ebooks (read the terms first). Browse the software section for powerful branding software.

Software. You can offer a free trial version of your software to your web site visitors. As with the ebook, include links to your site and your contact information. State plainly on your web site that all those who receive it can share the software freely. Use JV Spawner to create trial versions of your software in seconds.

Free web hosting. You can provide free hosting on your server to small businesses or beginning Internet marketers. In return, place a banner ad at the top of each site advertising your products and web site. This is a very effective means of advertising your site with little expense. The potential increase in the number of visitors to your web site is worth your efforts.

Templates. You can design your own web site templates, including your own contact information in the design, and offer them as free downloads. Make sure to expressly grant permission for them to be shared with others.

Content. You can provide original content about your particular area of expertise. Include your contact information and web site in the text and allow others to publish it as long as they keep your information intact. As this information is shared and published by others you will attract more traffic to your web site.

Discussion boards. Setting up a discussion board or forum with your banner ad attached is an excellent means of advertising. Invite your web site visitors to join your discussion board and make it available to the public.

Internet marketers should make themselves aware of all means of free advertising. The more you spread the word about your products and services, the more traffic you will draw to your web site. Internet marketing is extremely competitive and you should use all the avenues that are available to you in advertising your web site and products. Experiment with the various ways of viral marketing until you find the ones that work best for you. Increased visibility means more traffic to your web site and more traffic will translate in to higher sales.

Successful Internet marketers not only provide valuable products and services, they use any means possible to advertise to as many people as possible. The success of your business rests on your ability to promote your web site.

Site Promotion

August 16, 2006 10:32 am

You’ll never be able to maximize your site promotion if you don’t know what methods to use in promotion. So to speak, a poor site promotion will not reap success for your business, and of course, a well-promoted site will increase visitors and boost sales at the same time. So, to get the most out of the benefits of site promotion, here are practical ways that will help you promote your site well.

1: Write for others.

One of the best ways to promote your site is to create articles and distribute them to other sites. These site owners can make use of your write-ups as contents of their newsletters or ezines.

Stress to them that you’ll be offering these for free provided that they will include in the article a link to your website. Plus, ask them if you could also put a single line illustration telling a little something about your site.

2. Go for search engines.

For additional exposure, submit your URL to some of the most well-known search engines in the Net. You can do this by looking for that section in the search engine result page that has an “add your URL” tab.

3. Give something for free.

If you’re so much into making profit, this will be somewhat a tedious work. However, it wouldn’t do your business well if you don’t try all the possible strategies.

One way of doing this is to produce a “free service.” This refers to useful tools that your visitors may use without any charge at all. In doing so, you’ll be enticing more readers to visit your site. Their first intention could be due to your freebie. But as they continue to go in and out of your site, chances are, they’ll eventually give in to whatever it is that you offer them.

4. Make a newsletter then distribute it through emails.

This is, in fact, one of the best known site promotion strategies. Because emails almost appeals to anybody, making an e-mail newsletter will be a welcome proposition to your reader.

You can also ask for their e-mail address and their usernames by providing sign-up forms on the newsletter. Once they have decided to sign up, all you have to do is to wait for your sales to increase.

5. Make a page title.

Make it a point to provide titles for every page of your site. Just bear in mind that the title must bear the keywords that will promote your site to search engines and will increase traffic at your site. Eliminate the so-called fillers or those that are not usable words like “the”.

6. Use Internet Marketing Forums and Blogs.

The key to site promotion is greater amount of exposure. To do this, you must provide links to different blogs that cater to things similar to what you offer on your site. You can also participate in the different discussion forums. In this way, you can increase promotion by establishing reputation among the people included in the forum.

7. Use advertising strategies like PPC ads.

PPC ads or pay per click advertisements are viable means of promoting your sites. In this process, you bid on keywords that best describe your site.

This will be made available on the search engine result page. Once a customer clicked on your link, they will automatically be directed to your site. In turn, you have to pay the amount for that click.

8. Create a blog that focus more on your business.

By having a blog in your site, you’ll be increasing site promotion by enticing more people to visit your site through your business blog. Make sure that you offer excellent and useful content in your blog so as to catch the reader’s attention.

Considering the pointers given, you’ll now have a positive outlook on how you will proceed to the other possible site promotion strategies that will help you boost sales. In fact, there are a thousand and one way of promoting your sites. All you need is a little creativity and dodged determination.

Thus, if equipped with the right weapon, you’ll definitely be on your way in winning the battle against your competitors.

“How to Generate More Profits From Your Web Pages”

When creating your sales copy it is important to pay
particular attention to your page layout. This is a very
important step in the sales process, because you want your
page to
grab the attention of your potential customers.

In short, you need to force your prospect to stop what
they are doing and read your page.

If they see a page with tiny margins, no indentations, no
breaks in the text, no white space, and no subheads… if
they see a page of nothing but densely-packed words, do you
think they will be tempted to read it?

Not likely.

If you do have ample white space, generous margins, short
sentences, short paragraphs, subheads and an italicized or
underlined word here and there for emphasis, it will
certainly look more inviting to read.

When reading your sales copy, some prospects will start at
the beginning and read word for word. Some will read the
headline and maybe the first paragraph, then read the
“P.S.” at the bottom of the page, then start back at the
beginning again.

And some folks will scan through your copy, noticing the
various subheadings and dot-points strategically positioned
throughout your page, then decide if it’s worth their time
to read the entire thing. Some may never read the entire
page, but order anyway.

You must design your page to cater for all these different
types of visitors. You will need interesting and compelling
long copy for the studious reader, short paragraphs and
sentences, white space, and subheads for the skimmer.

And here’s a little known tip you don’t often hear…

Naturally the most important part of your page is your
heading and it needs to include you most compelling and
best benefit…

…But some of the headlines that didn’t make the cut can
be converted to make great subheadings.

A good subheading forces your prospect to keep reading,
threading them along from start to finish throughout your
copy, while also providing the glue necessary to keep
skimmers skimming.

Keep that in mind when creating your sales copy :-)

“Using Video to Explode Your Income”

There are thousands of people promoting affiliate products
or selling online information services, so it’s no wonder
that the competition is getting stiff. The challenge is to
try and outdo other affiliates and think of ways to be
different.

There are also many tips and techniques being taught to
these affiliate in order to best plan their strategy for
their program to work effectively so that more earnings
will be achieved.

The trouble is that everyone is getting the same
information, so you need to do something different to give
you the edge so you can stand out from the competition and
convince your potential customers to purchase from you.

What better way to wow your prospects than to record and
publish top notch, full motion and streaming screen-
captured videos. There’s nothing like of having your
prospects jumping up excitedly in great anticipation to buy
your product right there and then.

This is video in action. It is a proven fact, giving your
customers something they can actually see can explode your
online sales instantly.

You do not need to have trainings and education to be able
to know how this system can work for your affiliate
program. Anyone can create stunning videos, from multimedia
tutorials and step-by-step presentations available online.

The process is like having your customers seated next to
you and looking at your desktop, as you show them the
things they need to see and hear. All this done step by
step.

One of the better ’screen capture’ video programs
available is Camtasia. So how does Camtasia work?

In essence, Camtasia records your desktop activity in a
single click. No need to have to save and compile all your
files because it is recorded right there and then.

You also have the ability to easily convert your videos
into web pages. You can then upload your pages and publish
them through blogs, RSS feed and Podcasts.

You may want your Camtasia videos to get around and reach
out to other people that may be potential customers in the
future. Nothing like being visible in many sites and pages
to advertise yourself and get your message through.

There are other things you can do with your affiliate
program using Camtasia. You can…

Create stunning multimedia presentations that are proven
to increase sales because all the senses are engaged. This
also has the tendency to reduce skepticism among hard-to-
please customers.

You can also minimize miscommunication with your customers
by fully explaining all the benefits they will be getting
with any program or service you are promoting. You can also
redirect your visitors directly to your affiliate site once
they are finished watching the video.

Reduce refunds and other customer issues by demonstrating
visually how to use your product. In doing this, complaints
will also be minimized because all the facts will be
explained for your customers to see for themselves.

Multiple your online auction bids exponentially when you
give your readers a feel of what you have to offer. Based
from reports, auctions that includes pictures increases
bidding percentage by 400%. Imagine how much higher it will
be if it were videos.

Re-package valuable private label products in video format
that you can sell for a much higher price. All you need to
is to create series of a screen captures by going through
and explaining each step showing how to use the information
provided in the product.

Just remember that the main purpose of using video is to
boost your income that is generated from your program or
service you are promoting. So try to focus on the goal that
you have set upon yourself to and achieve that with the use
of the things that help in increasing your earnings.

Effective Marketing Strategies

“How to Make Your Promotion as Effective as Possible”

The easiest, simplest and most effective method of
creating a successful marketing campaign is to emphasize
benefits - and not the features - of the product or service
you are promoting.

And in case you don’t know the difference, features are
descriptions of what qualities a product possesses, for
example…

- The XYZ car delivers 55 miles per gallon in the city.
- Our ladder’s frame is made from a lightweight durable
steel alloy.
- Our glue is protected by a patent.
- This database has a built-in data-mining system.

Benefits are what those features mean to your prospects,
for example…

- You’ll save money on gas and cut down on environmental
pollutants when you use our energy saving high-performance
hybrid car. Plus, you’ll feel the extra oomph when you’re
passing cars, courtesy of the efficient electric motor,
which they don’t have!

- Lightweight durable steel-alloy frame means you’ll be
able to take it with you with ease, and use it in places
most other ladders can’t go, while still supporting up to
800 pounds. No more backaches lugging around that heavy
ladder. And it’ll last for 150 years, so you’ll never need
to buy another ladder again!

- Patent-protected glue ensures you can use it on wood,
plastic, metal, ceramic, glass, and tile…without messy
cleanup and without ever having to re-glue it again-
guaranteed!

- You can instantly see the “big picture” hidden in your
data, and pull the most arcane statistics on demand. Watch
your business do a “180″ in no time flat, when you
instantly know why it’s failing in the first place! It’s
all done with our built-in data-mining system that’s so
easy to use, my twelve year-old son used it successfully
right out of the box.

I just made up those examples, but I think you understand
my point.

By the way, did you notice in the list of features where I
wrote “steel alloy?” But in the benefits I wrote “steel-
alloy” (with a hyphen). Not sure off-hand which one is
correct, but I know which one I’d use.

Here’s why:

You are not writing to impress your English teacher or win
any awards. The only award you’re after is results. So take
some liberty in grammar, punctuation and sentence
structure. You want it to be read and acted upon, not read
and admired.

Now back to benefits…

If you were selling an expensive men’s watch, you wouldn’t
tell your reader that the face is 2 inches in diameter and
the band is made of leather.

You need to tell them how the extra-large face will
benefit them. They won’t have to squint and look foolish to
everyone around him trying to read this magnificent
timepiece.

And how about the way they’ll project success and charisma
when he wears the beautiful gold watch with its handcrafted
custom leather band? How their partner will find them
irresistible when they’re all dressed up to go out, wearing
the watch.

Or how the watch’s status and beauty will attract the
ladies.

Incidentally, did you notice how I brought up not
squinting as a benefit? Does that sound like a silly
benefit?

Not if you are selling to affluent baby boomers suffering
from degrading vision. They probably hate it when someone
they’re trying to impress sees them squint in order to read
something. It’s all part of their inner desire, which you
need to discover.

And which even they may not know about. That is, until you
show them a better way.

The point is to address the benefits of the product, not
its features. And when you do that, you’re focusing on your
reader and their interests and desires. The trick is to
highlight the specific benefits that push your reader’s
emotional hot buttons.

Don’t forget to track all your promotions. Adtrackz is the tool
to work with.
