The Stupid Mistake Most Internet Marketers Make Or The Five Biggest Mistakes

September 29, 2006 5:25 pm

Instead of showing you how to succeed, here is a list to show you how to fail.

Below are five recipes for the surefire failure of your web site. I will show you how to cure each of these faulty recipes underneath each listing.

Mistake #1: Sell Something You Don’t Understand.

This is a definite recipe for Internet failure…You shouldn’t be trying to sell something you don’t know, understand, and aren’t an expert in. In other words, don’t sell an Internet marketing product if you haven’t made money in Internet marketing.

Don’t jump on a business opportunity just because someone you know is promoting it. Find something that you love. Then, build a business out of that. If you love books, then find a way to develop a web site and product around that.

If you are always on the golf course, then create a theme out of that. Review golf courses and golf clubs. Sell golf videos on your site.

Mistake Recipe #2: Don’t Add Your Personality.

Don’t try to compete with corporate sites with your little one hundred dollar domain. They have the huge advertising budget to overcome their site mistakes, but you don’t. You must use your secret weapon…you.

Many people are ashamed to do this, but you absolutely have to add a little bit of you into your web sites. Your visitors are not looking for another corporate site. They are looking for real solutions to their problems, and they want them to come from a real human being.

Include your name on your site. Give your phone number and personal email address. Tell them facts about why they should listen to you. What experiences or credibility do you have in the field?

Be interesting to the people who visit you.

Mistake Recipe #3: Ignore Your Traffic Stats.

Where does most of your traffic come from? Ask that question of 90% of the webmasters out there, and they will just give you a blank look. They have no idea where their traffic comes from.

This is a serious mistake and one you will have to correct if you have any ambitions for your site at all. Virtually every hosting company you could possibly purchase your site from comes with some type of tracking features.

Observe your stats to find out where your traffic is coming from. What search engines do they use to find you? What keywords did they use? Who else is linking to you?

Which pages do they visit first? Which section of your web site do they go to the most after they visit the front page? These are the types of questions your traffic stats should be telling you.

Once you have a chance to look at them, increase promotion in whatever areas are working. If you notice that you are getting a lot of hits from a specific search engine, increase your promotion on that engine. If you receive most of your hits through links on other sites, then work more on creating links.

Mistake Recipe #4: Don’t Collect Email Addresses.

Sites which only have one shot to sell their visitors are eventually going to fail. You have to create a sales system where you can follow up on them again and again.

The best way to do this is to create your own ezine. You could also offer a special series of reports which are sent out to your prospects by email every couple of days or every week.

Think about it this way. If you can’t get a prospect to commit to you by giving you their email address, then there are no way you can sell something to that prospect. So, focus on collecting the email address when someone visits your site.

Offer your ezine on every page your of site. Give free ebook bonuses for subscribing. Offer other incentives for subscribing. Build the list and at the same time make your first product offer to them.

I will venture to say that your actual web site serves two primary purposes. It is there to give you the basic credibility so that they subscribe to your email publication, and it is there to help you take online orders

Mistake Recipe #5: Sell sloppy Products.

If you are out to fail, then sell some shoddy products. It used to be said that if one customer had a bad experience they would tell 10 of their friends about it. Now, with the global efficiency of the Internet, instead of them just telling their friends, they may tell thousands of people about it.

When you sell a really good product, the news gets around. When you sell a poor product, the news gets around even faster.

So, make sure any product you sell is your best work. Figure out a way to add supplementary bonuses to it. Give the customer more than they expected.

Give them faster shipping then they expected. Purchase reprint rights or Private Label Rights to someone else’s product to throw in as a bonus. Call them up and ask them if they need anything else. Go beyond the call of duty and your name will begin to become well known around the Internet.

Focus on the task at hand. Learn to use your mind…and then success in your business will follow.

How To Make Your Customer Stick With You - Part 4

2:55 pm

If you’re selling products or services via the web and you’re not already running an affiliate marketing program, it’s time to start and reap the rewards. Every day thousands, if not millions, of merchants rely on affiliate marketing to drive their businesses.

Affiliate marketing is one of the best online marketing programs available for businesses. Why? Because there’s no risk. You only pay if the customer makes a purchase, signs up for your newsletter, joins your emailing list, or takes whatever action you want them to take.

It allows retailers to place advertising links and even individual products on affiliated web sites across the Web, greatly expanding their shelf space and their online presence.

While affiliate marketing has proven to be effective, it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme and retailers must manage their programs and develop strong affiliate relationships to make their programs successful.

In order to recruit the high-quality affiliates necessary for an effective sales force, retailers must maintain a competitive program and open communication with their affiliates. With these ideals in mind, retailers can gain the attention, trust, and profitability of quality affiliates.

However, affiliates’ loyalty is not easy to win. To encourage affiliates to be loyal to your affiliate program, you have to do something really special to stand out from the crowd.

Some of these techniques require considerable time and effort. However, it’s a wise investment because the alternative is so much worse: spending time and money hunting for super affiliates, who then switch to other programs.

If you succeed in creating loyal affiliates, they will not only stick with your affiliate program and promote it enthusiastically, they’ll recommend it to other top affiliates.

Help your affiliates. Give them all the tools they need to succeed. Provide lots of precise, detailed, how-to marketing info online. Keep them enthusiastic with tips in your affiliate newsletter. Consider adding a toll-free number for affiliate support.

Put someone knowledgeable in charge of answering affiliates questions promptly in simple English.

Pour special recognition on your high-earning affiliates.
Send them flowers, champagne or chocolates. Horrified at the thought of the cost? You’ll spend a LOT more finding new super affiliates.

Praise your top affiliate marketers on your site.
This serves three purposes. It teaches other affiliates what works. It rewards your top affiliates by sending them traffic. The public recognition increases affiliates’ loyalty.

Pay special affiliates a special high commission.
You know that key affiliates in key positions of influence are very valuable. Pay them accordingly. Don’t embarrass them by forcing them to ask for the special rate which they deserve.

Residual commissions and two-tier commissions also win favor with affiliates.

However, don’t assume that a high commission alone will be enough. You have to get everything else right, too.

Before you launch a two-tier program, ask yourself if there are affiliates in key places of influence who are likely to want to recommend your program to other affiliates. If there aren’t, forget the idea.

Two-tier commissions aren’t nearly as effective as they were several years ago. This is because, these days, affiliates tend to switch rapidly from one program to another, always looking for something better. Instead of having two tiers, you might be better to pay one large commission.

However, affiliates are always going to be interested in earning residual income or lifetime commissions. I can’t imagine that going out of fashion.

Learn from your best affiliates. You’ll probably receive a far more useful response if you ask your loyal super affiliates how to improve your program.

Many of these winners will know the best features of the best affiliate programs on the Net. They’ll be happy to give you useful tips on how to improve your program.

Study what your top affiliates do. You’ll probably find that they’re earning money in all sorts of creative ways you’ve never thought of. Their knowledge can help your affiliates earn more.

Treat your affiliates as business associates. Respect them or they’ll switch to someone who does. DON’T siphon off some of the traffic they send you to products on which they don’t earn a commission.

When referred customers arrive at your site, all money-earning links on that page should earn a commission for your affiliate.

Do provide real-time statistics. Serious affiliates need to know immediately whether their promotions are achieving results so they can test repeatedly, fix mistakes, and maximize their sales.

A Simple Blueprint for Your Long-Term Success

You may have heard or read recently all the fuss
surrounding Adsense and how it’s supposed to be dead. Don’t
be mistaken. Adsense is still alive and kicking. It’s just
some of the methods used to generate an income from Adsense
have pasted their use by date and it’s time to move on to
other income generating methods.

For the last couple of years generating an income from
automated programs that were designed to mass produce sites
specifically for the purpose of generating an income from
Adsense was a piece of cake. But those days are now well
and truly gone.

Please go to the Freebie section for more informations.

Over the last few months the search engines have been very
aggressively seeking out these sites and de-indexing them
from their database. This combined with Adwords giving
advertisers the option of reducing the amount they are
willing to pay for keywords they are targeting on the
search network has all but killed this strategy.

It is now at the stage were it is extremely difficult to
earn any level of income from this and other “black hat”
methods. That is why if you use this method (or are
thinking of using this method) to generate an income it’s
time you stopped and started shifting your focus onto other
tactics.

Yes. You still can earn an income from Adsense. But you
now need to take a “big picture” view by placing more focus
on “white hat” strategies, such as building high quality
content sites using conventional methods that provide your
targeted audience with a pleasant experience by providing
useful and informative content.

Another method that has proven to be very successful is to
create capture pages relating to your product or service
and then drive traffic to these pages using organic or paid
methods (or a combination of both).

[Note - With the introduction Google's new method of
ranking web pages it is not as easy as it once was to send
'cheap' traffic to your site using PPC methods, but it is
still very possible and an extremely successful strategy]

Once you’ve created your “white hat” sites you can then
monetize them using cost-per-action (CPA) programs,
Adsense, your own products or affiliate products.

It will take a some time testing and tweaking to find out
which strategy works best for each of your sites, but if
you can stick it out and dump the losers, all the while
continuing to build your network, before long you will
begin to see your earnings building to a stage where it
will be well worth your while.

The fundamental steps you need to take are:

- Build a site
- Send traffic to your site
- Monetize it
- Test and tweak to see what works best
- Dump the losers
- Rinse and repeat

The first step you need to take is to develop a plan that
outlines your blueprint for your long-term success. Then
research and identify how you can achieve each step. Then
start implementing your plan to begin building your future
one step at a time.

Read the Niche Site Manual to create quality niche sites that will
generate income and rank well in Google.

How to Get More Visitors to Sign-Up to Your List

Several months ago I read an article on increasing you opt
in email list.

The article described the reason why you need to ’sell’
anything you want to give away. People are people rarely
appreciate anything they can get for free, so this got me
thinking.

Whether or not people pull cash out of their pocket to
acquire your ebook is irrelevant. You still have to “sell”
it to them….

…or rather they have to be sold ‘on it’ before they will:

1) Take the time to read your offer of “free stuff”;
2) Take the time to download it; and
3) Actually read or use it!

Consciously or unconsciously before anyone takes advantage
of a “free offer” of any kind, they look at the “opportunity
cost” (i.e. accepting your offer over every other offer
they are presented with at that moment).

If your offer is compelling enough, most people will take
advantage of the opportunity to at least read your offer
and download what you are providing.

A well structured, benefit rich, compelling offer is a
prerequisite to “free” stuff.

Regardless of what you’ll read in countless marketing
books, simple putting up a couple of free items and
asking your visitors to join your list is the definitely
the WRONG approach - and it’s more than likely affecting
your conversions!

You need to convince them to join your list by “selling
them” on what you are offering as a solution to the
problems they may be facing.

So, the next time you decide to give a freebie away as an
incentive to signing up for your email list, think again
about this idea of ’selling’ the freebie first… make it
valuable in the eyes of the person reading your web page
and you’ll get more loyal subscribers and more sign-ups.

Driving Low Cost Targeted Traffic to Your Website

You’ve heard it said a thousand times before… “one of
the most efficient, low cost methods of driving targeted
traffic to your website is with pay per click search
engines”.

But, is advertising on pay per click search engines really
worth it?

This is a question that only you can answer. The major
factors that will help you answer this question include
your website conversion rate, the price of your product and
the bid price of your keyword phrases.

To determine the usefulness of bidding on pay per click
search engines, you must constantly monitor and track your
results. Only then will you know if pay per click
advertising is beneficial to your business.

When first starting out using pay per click search engines
to advertise your product or service, initially it is best
to bid on as many relevant keyword phrases as you can.
Then, after tracking results and calculating click thru
conversions, you can refine your bids to those keyword
phrases that produce the best results.

If you’re getting high click thru traffic from your
keyword bids, but getting relatively few sales, you may
need to further qualify your traffic. You can do this by
making small changes to your ad copy or title.

But, be warned! If you’re not careful, pay per click
advertising can become very time consuming and costly.

However, if used correctly, advertising your products on
pay per click search engines can contribute to your overall
website promotion campaign. But, you should take care that
you don’t pay too much per click and that you get a
positive return on investment.

The best way to ensure you get the best bang for your buck
is to research the most effective keywords relating to your
product, so you can specifically target your potential
customers and increase your website conversion ratio.

In other words, if you website concentrates on how to
write sales letters for home business owners, it would be
unwise to bid for the word “home business”. Sure, your may
get a truckload of visitors, but this keyword is far to
general and you may only attract predominately untargeted
tire kickers.

While 153,281 people may have searched for this phrase on
Overture the previous month, how many of these visitors
would be specifically interested in learning how to write
sales letters? Your conversion rate would be very low and
all you would be doing is burning up your hard earned cash.

For example, if you bid $2.25 for the keyword phrase “home
business”, this means that you pay $2.25 every time a
person clicks on this listing. So for every 100 visitors
that click on your listing, you pay $225.00. If these
aren’t targeted visitors and they don’t become customers,
you’ve just wasted $225.00.

If you converted 2% of you visitors (which is average) and
you sold your product for $47.00, you would receive $47.00
for every $225.00 you spend. Now I was never very good at
math, but this still doesn’t look very profitable to me!

Using the above scenario, you would have to increase your
conversion rate to a minimum of at least 5% before you
started to show a profit, ie 5 sales at $47 for every 100
visitors.

Now if we plug in the figures using the above scenario to
calculate the maximum price we should be paying for our
keyword bids, the maximum would be $.94 cents, ie 2 sales
at $47 each (2%), divided by 100 visitors.

This gives you the absolute maximum price you should be
bidding for your keyword phrases. Once you start bidding
more than this price, unless you can improve your
conversion rate or increase the price of your product, you
run the risk of losing money on your campaign.

So the alternative is to either reduce your keyword phrase
bid price to a level that allows you to make a profit, or
increase your current website conversion rate by
researching and using targeted keywords to direct only
highly targeted visitors to your site.

In summary, here are five tips to get the best bang for
your buck using pay per click search engine advertising:

1. Refrain from bidding on general search terms such as
“home business” and research the most effective keywords
for your product to attract only highly qualified visitors,
that are specifically looking for your product and are
prepared to buy BEFORE they reach your site.

2. Initially bid on as many relevant keyword phrases as
you can and then test, tweak and refine your bids to those
keyword phrases that produce the BEST results.

3. Monitor your website conversion rate to calculate your
cost per click and cost per sale to allow you to develop an
appropriate advertising campaign.

4. Plan your advertising campaign, so that you know
exactly the maximum amount you can bid on you keywords and
still have a positive Return of Investment (ROI) and under
NO circumstances bid more than this amount.

5. Once you have developed and created a successful
advertising campaign, ie you received a positive Return on
Investment, REPEAT the process, over and over again.

Remember to always TRACK your campaigns. I use and strongly
recommend AdTrackz for tracking and affiliate link cloaking.

How To Make Your Customer Stick With You - Part 3

September 22, 2006 2:52 pm

The formula for success for any business is to make your customers stick with you. It’s a proven fact that the real value of a new customer isn’t in the first sale, but in the continued relationship, with that customer either buying from you again and again or buying more from you as you introduce new products and services just for them.

The following tips will help you retain your customers and get into the position where you can sell them anything because what you offer is exactly what they need.

Stay in contact with customers on a regular basis. Customers don’t want to feel abandoned. So, offer them a free e-zine subscription. Ask customers if they want to be updated by e-mail when you make changes to your web site.

Don’t guess. After every sale, follow-up with the customer to see if they are satisfied with their purchase.

Ask your customers questions. When you are working with your customers, it is important to constantly ask them what you can do better or what else they need.

You’ll be amazed at how many of your customers have the same needs. It may only take a little work to be able to provide a service or product that meets the exact need.

A simple questionnaire when they buy from you may be able to give you a good insight into what they may need soon. You could also set up a forum where customers can discuss your products and make suggestions for what they’d like to see in the future.

Have a web site that is easy to navigate. Create a website where the customer must see all your products before they can leave. Add a frequently asked questions page and explain anything that might confuse your customers or visitors.

Follow up with an electronic survey with questions on how to increase your site’s user-friendliness.

Resolve your customers’ complaints quickly and successfully. Answer all e-mail and phone calls within an hour. If possible, you, as the owner of the business, should personally take care of the problem. Never take a customer for granted. This will show your customers you really care about them.

Make it easy for your customers to contact you. Offer as many contact methods as possible. Allow customers to contact you by e-mail. Hyperlink your e-mail address so customers won’t have to type it. Offer toll free numbers for phone and fax contacts.

Give your customers more than they expect. Send thank you gifts to lifetime customers. Humans like to be treated as if they are special, and they will return to businesses where they have had these positive experiences. E-mail them online greeting cards on holidays or birthdays.

Be polite to your customers. Use the words “You’re welcome,” “Please,” and “Thank you.” Be polite to your customers even if they are being irate with you.

Always apologize to your customers if you make a mistake. Admit your mistakes quickly and make it up to them in a big way.

Recognize positive feedback. Whenever your company receives a letter from a customer commending an employee’s performance, always contact the customer immediately and thank him or her for taking the time to send a positive word. Typically, most companies drop everything to respond to negative feedback.

Remember that customers complain more than they praise. When a customer takes the time to extend kind words, it is imperative to respond and share the feedback with your entire staff.

Reward customers a point for every one dollar they spend. It’s best to reward customers by offering special value on products or services you regularly provide.

Let’s say customers can get a free computer for 300 points. That means customers will spend $300 dollars on your products and services to get enough points to get the free computer.

To push slower-selling products or services, just offer more points per dollar spent for those particular items. The kind of rewards you give should depend on what your business can afford.

Cheaper rewards could be gift certificates, coupons, or movie passes. Expensive rewards could be jewelry, vacations, gift certificates, or computer equipment. People remember the nice touches.

Build strong relationships with your customers. Invite them to company meetings, luncheons, workshops or seminars. Create special events for your customers like parties, barbecue’s, dances etc. This will make them feel important when you include them in regular business operations and special events.

I hope these ideas I’ve given you help make your business more successful.

In part 4 we will focus on rewarding your affiliates.

How To Make Your Customer Stick With You - Part 2

September 20, 2006 2:52 pm

What’s next after someone becomes your customer? What’s next is to deliver on what you said you would. People expect you to deliver results. Surprise them by also going the extra mile over and over again.

You can also deliver it around meetings. In most organizations, it’s easy for you to deliver additional value around meetings because most companies run meetings poorly. Capture important notes during your meetings and deliver your neatly typed notes consistently with your customer’s format.

Not only will it allow you to capture the main ideas and benefits of important discussions, but also your customer’s team members will almost always appreciate it. Send this as soon after the meeting as possible.

As soon as you get a new customer, thank them for doing business with you. Send them a thank you note, an extra report, or something of value.

Let them know that you appreciate their business and show them that you care about them. It can have an amazing effect! One small act that shows how much you value your new customer can create a customer for life.

The formula for having your customers turn into raving fans is a good product and great service. Interestingly enough, a good product and bad service gives you unhappy customers no matter how good your product is.

But what is the best way to turn first-time customers into repeat customers? It’s to make sure that you really over-deliver! In fact, you should under-promise and over-deliver… just the opposite of what we often see. Tell people what you will do for them and then do it.

Over-deliver, but don’t over-promise. Most companies do just the opposite. They want that sale so they promise their customers the moon, but then they fall just a little short. They might have provided exceptional customer service, but excellent service loses its luster if it falls short of the promise.

In fact, it’s worse than not promising at all. The bottom line is that you must organize your business so that you always exceed, but absolutely never fall short of a promise to a customer. By great service, you can make sure that your customers will stick with you.

A study has shown that it takes 16 times the effort to get a new customer as it does to sell to an existing one. So treasure them all and treat them like a $1m customer.

When you have satisfied customers, they will buy more and more from you. They have already experienced you, your services or products, and your quality of service so the decision process is so much easier for them.

They will become your walking, talking sales force. They believe in you and your services or products so much so that they will voluntarily tell others about you.

Develop relationships with your customers so you can continue to discover what they want. Then provide offers that deliver what they want so they choose to do more business with you.

This is another huge key to your success. It is the key to maximizing the lifetime value of a customer.

From time to time, do a customer satisfaction survey. Test to see if your customers are happy with your service and ask them for suggestions for improvement. Then act on these suggestions.

If you have a dissatisfied customer, you have an opportunity. People who are unhappy will tell other people and so on and so forth. Get the picture? So, when you have a dissatisfied customer, you have an opportunity to have them experience your excellent service and to build an even stronger relationship with you.

Accept complaints graciously and treat them as though they are nuggets of pure gold. These are your opportunities to improve and increase loyalty. So sort their problems out quickly and they will then tell others good things about you.

Use these tips well and you can become successful with any product or service you have.

Treasure your customers and they will treasure you. Treasure your customers and more customers will be attracted to you. That is how it works!

In part 3 we will focus on rewarding your customers.

You Must Have Strategies in Place to Grow Your Income

Do you have a strategy?

From my observations, I see a lot of people online that
are moving forward without much of a strategy. Or they are
stuck using other peoples strategies and don’t develop
their own based on their needs and abilities.

It is very important to understand that those marketers
that are teaching you things online are doing what they
know or have been successful with themselves. It is not
necessarily the path for YOU or the only path you should
take.

I use a combination of strategies… I strongly use the old
saying, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”.

A good example of this is the amount of marketers who lost
a large chunk (if not all) of their online income because
the latest “Google Slap” wiped out most of their business.
Some marketers instantly lost hundreds of thousands of
dollars per year from their annual income.

Why? Because they had all their eggs in the Google basket.
Google can make changes virtually any time they like and in
doing so can affect thousands of people. You may think you
have control, but in reality you don’t.

That’s why you must diversify. Have a strategy that takes
into account these type of life altering changes.

Don’t do just one thing. Let me rephrase that. You can do
one thing, but make sure that you are covered within that
one thing.

For instance, if you depend on Google Adwords for the
majority of your income, that’s fine. Just make sure that
you are not doing just one thing within that market.
Develop your strategies so that if something happens, you
can rely on other techniques to continue to earn you income.

Things are in a continuous state of change online. You
must brace yourself for that change. Make sure you have a
strategy. Don’t lose sight of the big picture!

This is a business not just a way to make some quick
profits. Yes it can be, but generally I think most of us
want to have long term results and not live on the edge
from week to week.

So have some sort of strategy in place for your business
that insulates you from the environment. You should have a
short term, medium and long term strategy.
Where do you see yourself in 1 month, 6 months, 5 years?

How are you going to get there?

There are things I do to make money now, but there are
also things that I am building now that will blossom in the
future and offer long-term stability.

Just sit down for a few minutes and write down some of
your goals and what you want out of this business. After
you know what you want and have taken into consideration
the environment, map out how your are going to get there.

If you do this, you will not only find stability over the
long term, but you will find peace of mind.

How a Positive Attitude Can Lead to Astounding Success

Your subconscious mind can feed on thoughts of defeat or
thoughts of success.

In some ways it’s a bit like a chain reaction. What you
decide to think about or dwell on will leave an impression
on your mind that will effect everything you do.

Regardless of what you goals are, you will only ever be as
successful as you allow yourself to be!

It’s simple really. If you give up and get frustrated with
something, that frustration will have a negative impact on
the rest of your activities.

On the other hand if you follow through with something,
work hard and find a solution, the impact of that victory
will have a positive influence on the rest of your work.
This then allows you to tackle other projects with more
confidence, which can lead to even more success.

Basically, confidence stems from convincing yourself you
can. So the more positive you can be, the more you can do!
:-)

I often see people getting all worked up because of some
issue or whatever. And a most times this emotion is
impacting their attitude and their long-term success.

I’m not saying I’m always level… heck at times I can get
very annoyed. But you can’t get too caught up emotionally
or negatively in something that really isn’t that important.

Sometimes we must battle - other times it’s not going to
make any difference, so why bother. Just walk away and do
something else.

You are the master of your attitude and because of that
you can control your effectiveness, productivity and
results online or offline in your business or personal life.

The choice is really yours to think what you think. It may
take some effort to train yourself to think a certain way,
but it’s worth it. That effort will translate to your
subconscious and make for a better YOU.

You can decide to control your subconscious or turn it
over to itself and let it control you.

Think Positive… not negative!

A lot of people will joke when someone starts chanting
about positive attitudes and such… but I can assure you
there is something to it. You will have much better
relationships and results in your life if you are positive
rather than negative…

A book worth picking up and reading about building a
positive attitude is:

Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude by Napoleon Hill /
W. Stone

I at least suggest taking a peek. This approach to life
has made my life better and happier!

Promoting Too Many Programs Can Hurt Your Profits

Affiliate Marketing is by far, one of the easiest ways to
make money online. It is a revenue sharing business
relationship between the affiliate who agrees to promote
the products or services, and the merchant who offers them.

Affiliate marketers can earn a few bucks to thousands of
dollars with affiliate programs and how much you earn is
only be limited to your determination, creativity and
strategy.

It is a brilliant way to earn online and you do not have
to produce your own product or service to make a buck.

You just need to be aware that making your fortune with
affiliate marketing is not instant. Profits usually start
small and then get larger as your campaign starts to build
momentum. You have to use your imagination to find more
ways to attract more web traffic that can convert to sales.

How many affiliate checks do you want to receive?

Most affiliate marketers will enthusiastically reply that
they want to receive as many affiliate checks as possible.
However, it isn’t as easy as it sounds?

Most affiliate marketers assume that joining multiple
affiliate programs is a wise option.

The reason for this is that as it is very easy to join
affiliate programs, and there is usually nothing to lose,
they are tempted to join as many programs they can get
their hands on. The belief is that the more programs they
belong to, the more chance they have of getting commissions.

However if you do this you fail to give your affiliate
programs enough attention and work they ought to receive.
This results in the maximum potential of the affiliate
programs not being realized and the resulting income from
these programs will almost certainly be disappointing.

The best way to achieve multiple streams of income is to
concentrate on one affiliate program at a time.

Choose a product or service that you can promote
passionately. Pick a product in which you have complete
trust. And here’s a big tip…

… The best products and services to promote are those that
you use personally!

If you promote only products you personally use, your
readers will be able to sense your sincerity whenever you
promote a product that you have experienced. This will
greatly enhance your credibility as well as your product’s
marketability and will encourage your prospect to purchase
the product or service.

As soon as your first affiliate program is making a
reasonable profit then you can proceed to joining another
affiliate program and repeat the process. “Too much, too
soon” is a common pitfall in affiliate marketing. Joining
too many affiliate programs simultaneously in the hopes of
having multiple streams of income simply does not work.

Focus first on one affiliate program and work on it so
that it makes a good profit. Then, go find another
promising program and give it your best effort. The
question should not be how many affiliate checks you want
to receive, but how many “high-paying” affiliate checks can
you receive.

The answer lies in your determination to succeed and
determination to maximize your earning potential. With the
right tools, the right actions, and perseverance you can
definitely make a good profit out of affiliate marketing.

How To Make Your Customer Stick With You - Part 1

September 16, 2006 3:37 pm

What is the best secret behind incredibly successful businesses? Is it keeping up with the trends? Having an excellent workforce who’ll make sure that your company is working in tiptop shape?

Or having loyal customers who not only keep coming back to you whenever they need your products or services, but also help your company get more attention from other people through good word of mouth?

This article will give you great advice on how to make your customers stick with you.

One effective and free technique is a Forum. It is a great way to make your customers stick with you. Forums are great for learning, sharing of ideas, and generally masterminding with peers, but give some thought to the impact they can have on your lead generation efforts, as well as on your relationship to your customers.

By joining an active forum, you can significantly accelerate your rate of learning whether you are a newbie or an experienced practitioner.

For newbies, even if you merely lurk in the shadows and don’t post on your forums, you will learn a lot by reading questions from others and the helpful replies by experienced forum members.

Apart from the information sharing and networking that forums offer, they have the potential to both positively and negatively impact your marketing efforts, levels of customer satisfaction, and the overall sentiments towards your customer.

Here are some ideas as to how you can use forums in a positive way to improve your marketing initiatives.

Conduct market research. Simply type in the name of the product of service you want to research in the search engine; within seconds you will have a list of website reviews, blog postings, and forum comments.

If you get some glowing comments in public or in membership forums for your products, contact the individuals to see if you can post these as testimonials. Negative comments should also be reacted to as well; contact the individuals and see if you can rectify the situation.

Often a fixed bad experience can convert a vocal detractor into a fan. Most people can tolerate a mistake; what makes them angry is when you ignore them or pretend that no problem or grievance exists.

Use for Satisfaction Tracking. If your business markets a product to quite a large user base, it makes marketing sense to set up a product-specific forum and actively promote the forum to your customer base.

The postings by your customers will give you a good indication of the overall sentiment towards your product, as well as your service levels. Prospects can also use the forums as a gauge of product popularity and level of active support.

Your forum will also provide you with a communication channel to your customer base. You can use it to conduct quick polls and as a free customer relationship management alternative to paid-for satisfaction audits by marketing research firms.

New product ideas. It is worthwhile to join a couple of the more active forums related to your market, whether your website has a forum or not. You can possibly identify the need for new products or services by monitoring questions, complaints, and cries for help.

A forum can also be a no-cost way to launch a pilot for a new product or service. You can get some early sign-ups or purchases without a major investment in marketing, and at the same time, use the opportunity to get some quick testimonials.

Finding JV partners. Monitoring active forums has another positive marketing spin off. It will help you identify potential JV partners. In the same way you are being assessed in your expert know-how, you can use the postings by your peers to identify those with whom it would make sense to explore setting up joint ventures.

This could get you access to mailing lists that you currently do not have.

If you are adding an online component to your offline business or starting to investigate an online business opportunity, consider how you can incorporate the points listed above.

For those suggestions that have a nice fit with your market, make a decision to take action and include them in your marketing activities. By actively and consistently applying these forum tactics, you will find that both your lead generation and your customer initiatives will be far more productive.

How To Bring Traffic To Your Site - Part 7

September 14, 2006 3:37 pm

Swap “thank you” page ads with other ezine publishers.

Promote other ezines on the page in which your new subscribers are taken to, after filling out a form or subscription box to join your ezine, in exchange for those publishers promoting your ezine on their “thank you” pages.

In addition to swapping ads on this page, you can also swap recommendations with other ezine publishers to get even more powerful promotion from your “thank you” page swaps.

This way, you are listed in so many more ezines and newsletters, promoting your site more and letting people know that your site exists. With more people having the chance to see the site name, the traffic of your site may increase with the heightened awareness of your site.

You unexpectedly find yourself with a few moments of free time – say five minutes - until your next meeting. You’ve already checked your morning e-mail messages.

For the moment, the phone isn’t ringing. So, looking for a task you can complete quickly, you reach for your things-to-do pile.

There you find a note about a thank-you letter that needs to be written. Good, you think. I can whip that off in two minutes, then get to my meeting on time.

Ten minutes later you’re still tinkering with the same three sentences, you’re not satisfied with what you have written, and you’re late for your meeting. Who would have thought that writing a simple thank-you letter would be so difficult?

If you have experienced something like this, you are one of countless people to discover the thank-you-letter-writer’s dilemma: A simple “thank you” can sound insincere if it’s too brief and a longer letter can sound equally insincere if it’s padded with empty-sounding generalities.

Begin with a thank you.

A straightforward “Thank you very much for . . .” or “I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for . . . “ works fine. When you want to underscore your role as representative of a group or organization, “On behalf of . . .” works well.

For a more creative approach, open with an indirect compliment, such as “Something good always happens whenever you’re in town.”

Refer specifically to what the reader has done for you.
The key to making your reader feel genuinely appreciated is to go beyond generalities and offer specific detail. When thanking a fellow writer, for example, rather than simply write “Your work was truly first rate,” explain what it was about the publication you found valuable: “Your comments on quality were especially useful. In fact, one of our team leaders has distributed a summary of your unique approach.”

Link the reader’s contribution to a broader mission or goal.
An effective way to expand your letter without sounding insincere (“Your presentation was the best I’ve ever heard”) is to acknowledge the importance of the reader’s contribution in a broader context (“Your three-step approach will help us prepare for our annual audit.”)

Thank-You Letter Tips:
Write clearly and concisely; this is no time to be longwinded or flowery. Be sincere–most people can sense when you aren’t being honest. Stick to the point.

Write the thank-you letter as soon as possible after the event. However, do not thank the person beforehand (for example, “Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.”) To do so is presumptuous and suggests you are unwilling to write a follow-up letter.

Proofread the letter before sending it: grammatical errors and typos are sloppy and unprofessional. You don’t want to look stupid in writing your letter; there are a lot of error and grammar-checking tools online which you can use to smoothen those unwanted mistakes.

Be specific and include details from the event. Make your letter stand out; don’t send a generic letter that could be to or from anyone. Address your letter to a specific person, if possible, not just the company or organization in general.

Conclude with “Thanks again” and a goodwill message.
Repeat your appreciation for your reader’s contribution and stress the importance of your relationship. This is your opportunity to say, in effect, “I appreciate your gifts and talents and I value our relationship.”

More exposure means more traffic

This is an easy trick to make more money flow into your business. Writing letters are not that difficult. Having the ezine writers refer to you or to your site is a nice way to have more customers visit your site and to make revenues in no time while having a good healthy win-win situation between you and other ezine writers.

Thank you page ads make people flock to see how well you are doing. Being thanked back is rewarding as people will likely boost your reputation further by referring you to their friends. You will enjoy the fruits of your labor by an increase in your website traffic.

Is This The Easiest Way to Make Money Online?

For the last year or so Google Adsense has dominated
forums, discussions boards and newsletters all over the net
and there are tales of fabulous riches being made by many
experienced and newbie marketers.

It seems that Google Adsense has dominated Internet
marketing and some now consider this the easiest way to
make money online.

The key to success with Adsense is the placing of ads on
pages that are receiving high traffic for high demand niche
topics. The higher the cost-per-click to the advertiser,
the more you will receive from each of the ads placed
on your site.

Of course Google factors a number of things into
determining the value of each click so not all pages will
give you the same value for the same keyword. But with the
number of people searching online everyday it is no wonder
Adsense has become an instant hit.

The most effective strategy that I have found for getting
the most out of Adsense is to place your ads on non-income
producing pages on your website!

For instance, if you have a website that provides free
downloads, check your logs and you will discover that many
of your visitors may be taking advantage of the free
resources that you are offering on your site.

This being the case, you can earn easy profits from the
freebie seekers simply by placing Adsense on these pages.
It really is that easy!

You can also place Adsense on your sitemap page, article
pages or directory pages. Basically you can place Adsense
ads on any page where you are not already promoting other
products or services. This way you are not competing
against yourself for your readers dollars, plus you gain a
benefit from pages you aren’t already monetizing.

You can also use graphics to grab your readers’ attention
to your ads. Just be aware that there are limitations as to
what you can and cannot do to make your graphics noticeable
when using Adsense. The key is to be creative - as long as
you do not overstep Google’s guidelines.

Also remember that generating the best return is all about
location, location, location. You have to identify the
perfect spot on your pages to position your ads for maximum
exposure.

And if you’re not sure where the best place is to position
your ads, here is a link to the Google Eye Tracking study
that shows you where you should be placing them:

http://ww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2005/02/28/213516/cropped.jpg

This “map” is a visual representation of a study that was
conducted on the eye movements of a number of test subjects
to determine what they were focusing on when visiting a web
page.

Now the study focused on the search results using Google’s
search engine results page (SERP), but the results are the
same for any page, whether is it a SERP’s or a normal
webpage on your site. And it’s fairly obvious by the
results that the best position to place your ads for
maximum benefit is within the Google Triangle.

Placing Google Adsense ads on your pages is an excellent
strategy to generating an auto-pilot income, particularly if
you provide a niche site that focuses on delivering
powerful content to your visitors.

But as with everything, you should test, test and then
test some more to see what best suits your own site to
ensure you are gaining the maximum benefit from your hard
work.

What Google Never Told You About Making Money With
AdSense
is an excellent resource to help you get the most out
of AdSense.

How to Build Your Optin List the Easy Way

Driving potential customers to your site should be ranked
as high as the importance of the quality and the excellence
of the product and the services you are providing. Yes,
it’s that important!

In fact these two aspects of your business go hand-in-
hand. Let’s face it. Without one the other is meaningless.

Customer service is extremely important and should form
part of your overall business model to ensure your
customers are provided with a very satisfying experience.

One of the ways you can combine marketing and customer
service is through the use of optin marketing.

Opt-in marketing is a low cost, one time effective strategy
of building your income. Basically you get the consent of
your visitors to allow you to send them additional
information about your chosen niche topic so that you can
build a relationship with them.

The updates you send to your readers should contain a
combination of pure content and promotional items in a
manner that will catch the interest and the eye of your
subscribers to keep them wanting more. The best way to do
this is to provide fun, entertaining and informational
articles.

Many sites and successful marketers have captured the
importance of well written articles that are full of useful
content and they have quickly learned that this is
imperative in building a highly responsive list.

Basically, when you write useful and informative content
your readers will be intrigued as to what they can learn
from you next and this will entice them to subscribe to
your newsletter to get a glimpse of what you have to offer.

Articles that are enriched with well chosen keywords can
also aid in search engine optimization. More and more
people are now turning to the Internet to instantly find
information relating to their interest. So if you provide
the content your readers are seeking, they will go to your
site for information and research.

So serving the right information via articles on your site
will increase the flow of traffic. And as you know, the
more traffic you get - the more your sales will grow. And of
course, more sales turn into more profits!

Well written articles can also boost your sites reputation.
If your articles are filled with solid information you will be
regarded as an expert on the subjects that you tackle.
Once you have gained your readers trust, they will then
come to you for their needs on that subject.

Most articles searched for are tips, guidelines or
methods. So if you an provide solutions based on these
ideas you will gain the trust of your readers and they will
eagerly await your updates or go to your site for help and
advice - as well as to purchase your products.

If you provide them with the answers that need, they
will be happy to receive your newsletters as well as
other promotional materials to keep them well informed.
Others may even forward your newsletters to other people
when they find a certain article interesting.

For this reason you should also provide links in your
newsletter so that when other people are reading it, they
can easily find your site. Then when they reach your site
they may decide to sign up to your list so they can get
regular content on their area of interest.

But above every thing else, make sure to keep your
subscribers happy and interested by providing a good
balance of pure content and promotional updates. Keep on
posting and writing informative articles on your site and
in your newsletter!

If you are not interested in writing them yourself or if
you just don’t have the time, there are many experienced
and knowledgeable writers available
to help you out. This
is an investment that will pay for itself in time.

How to Use Solo Ads to Generate Instant Profits

Is there any benefit in using paid ezine advertising?

The biggest ‘non-secret’ in generating wealth online is
traffic. Everybody knows it, every site wants it and every
site needs it.

And let’s face it. The point of creating a websites is to
be visited and viewed. Many elaborate designs, buckets of
money and countless hours of your time can goes into
creating a site, but without traffic it is all for naught.

With traffic comes potential customers, which basically
transfers into more sales and more profit. While many sites
have not been able to make any real money online, others
have generated a good income by concentrating on driving
traffic
to their sites and building their subscriber list.

One very effective method of driving highly targeted
visitors to your sites is “Precision Marketing”. This is
the term given when you laser focus your marketing so
that you specifically target a certain aspect of your
online business.

One such method is ezine advertising. Or more specifically
“solo ad” advertising!

Listen. There are countless methods of driving traffic to
your site. The trouble is that most of them, while
extremely successful, can take time to work. So if you’re
looking for instant results, paid advertising works - and
works well.

One of the most effective methods for driving responsive
visitors to your site
is to find highly targeted ezines
where the ezine owner has nurtured a highly responsive and
trustworthy list. It’s then just a matter of contacting the
owner to negotiate
a solo ad to be sent to their list
endorsing your chosen product or service.

Now I’m not talking about the many nickel and dime ezines
where you can send out a solo ad for 20 bucks. These types
of ezines have their place and if used correctly you can
make money from them, but you have to be very selective in
the ones you chose.

Advertising in a highly respected ezine that is full of
quality subscribers can cost up to $300 a solo ad and this
scares a majority of the new marketers away like crazy. But
you have to understand that to get the best results you
have to be prepared to spend money to make money.

However the smart marketers know that there is gold in
these quality ezines and the results can be extremely
rewarding and well worth the effort.

For example, recently a solo ad I used to promote a new
sites cost $297 for one single mailing, which at first
glance may seem expensive. However the list owner was a well
respected authority in his niche, he had built a huge
amount of trust with his 35,000+ readers, and the ezine was
tightly focused on the service I was promoting.

This results achieved from this single mailing were super
rewarding and it was the best 300 bucks I have ever spent.
In total the solo ad generated $2460 in extra sales and
added 830 new subscribers to my list. That’s how powerful
this strategy can be!

Of course not all results will be as good as this, and you
may find some that could be total duds. But if you do your
homework, on average you should be able to at least get
results that make it worth your while.

But before you decided to spend big bucks on a “high-end”
solo ad, it is imperative you first test your site to see
if your idea captures the attention of your visitors.
Ideally you should send your visitors to a landing page and
then convince them to signup to your list. You can then
create a OTO offer to generate some backend sales if you
want.

As a measure your pages effectiveness, a good capture page
should convert at least 20% of your visitors to your optin
list. And if you are providing a OTO page, you should be
aiming for at least a 4-5% conversion.

Once you have tested and tweaked your page to achieve
these numbers, you can then start rolling out your offer
with larger solo ad campaigns.

But remember - always TEST and TWEAK before rolling out and
spending any real money on a campaign!

So do your homework, look for highly respected marketers
in your niche and then contact them to see if they would be
prepared to send an endorsement to their list to promote a
highly related product or service.

If you’ve done your due diligence the rewards will blow
you away!

Tell Me What You Think
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

This is your chance to speak out.

Comment on articles I’ve run in the newsletter, give me
your thoughts on changes or your ad testing results or
questions relating to your business, etc.

In other words, just talk to me about what you think I
need to do to improve the newsletter.

Be sure to include your website address too, because if
I use your comments in a future issue of the newsletter,
I’ll thank you by posting your address so that you can get
additional free traffic to your site!

That’s a Wrap for this Week
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

That wraps up another week’s newsletter and I hope you
enjoyed this issue.

Don’t forget to send me any comments or questions you
may have to the Feedback Loop. I would be only too happy to
help you in any way that I can.

From time to time I’ll send you important updates
that will provide information that has the potential to
greatly improve your online business… and of course
your profits!

However, you can rest assured that I will only ever
recommend products that are considered to be of HIGH value
and will provide indisputably benefits to help you grow
your business… that’s my guarantee!

Your friend,

Gilles Rais
