Using Google to YOUR Best Advantage

Over the next few weeks I will be providing a series of
tips on how you can get the best out of Google. Today is
the first tip in this series…

Google caches over one billion images that are searched in
exactly the same way web pages are. Typing your search term
in the box and clicking on “Search Images” gives you
thumbnails of images related to the keyword search term you
used.

Each of the thumbnail images is linked back to its original
page, where you can view the larger size. This can save you
tons of time in locating an image that suits your purpose,
since you don’t need to sort through the standard search
results to find a web page that might contain the image you
need.

Test it out at the below link and see how it works. It
really is an excellent time-saver…

The ONE Special Ingredient to Achieving Success

Well another week’s come and gone and still we wonder what
the real secret to online success is.

While I’ll be honest and say that I don’t know all the
answers, I can tell you it’s not so much a single factor
that determines your level of success, but rather a
combination of factors that when put together in the right
sequence creates a force you never thought possible.

But the trick is it’s not the same for everyone. It’s
different things for different people. But having said that
there is ONE common thread that acts as the single most
important ingredient to success… without it you’ll NEVER
succeed.

Here’s a tip…

Ever tried to re-create a KFC Zinger Works Burger at home?

No matter how hard you try, unless you add the 11 different
secret herbs and spices, it just never works. It just
doesn’t taste the same does it?

Creating an online business is no different. Without the
one common thread, the one special ingredient, it doesn’t
matter what niche you try to target or what business you
want to create, it’ll just never work.

So what is this one special ingredient?

Well by now you’ve probably worked it out, but I’ll tell
you anyway…

The ONE common thread that combines all things and
produces amazing results is… ACTION.

I know we’ve talked about this on many occasions. In fact
I even mentioned it again last week. But it’s imperative
you completely understand the importance of this.

Unfortunately while I can show you everything you’ll
ever need to know to succeed online, I can’t force you to
take the necessary action to implement what you learn. Like
the old saying goes…

You can lead a horse to water… yeah well you know the
rest.

Until you understand this very important factor, you will
continue to scratch your head in frustration. But once the
light bulb flashes in your head and you hear that little
“ding” sound ringing in your ears, then you’ll instantly
understand.

Then you’ll know exactly what I’ve been talking about all
this time! Then you’ll ask yourself… why in the heck
did I wait this long?

Remember… look, listen, learn and DO!

What is the Long-Tail and How Can it Help You?

You’ve probably heard all the fuss lately about the “long-
tail”. But what really is it? What does it mean and how can
it help you?

The long-tail is a term given to a keyword phrase that is
longer than the normal keyword phrase that you may have in
the past been targeting to gain organic traffic from the
search engines.

Let me explain.

In the past it was common place to target highly
trafficable keywords that were very popular in your niche
in the hope that you would be able to gain a share of this
huge amount of traffic.

For example, if you had built a site about fishing you
would have done your keyword research and discovered that
the term “fly fishing” was searched for over 60,000 times
per month. So naturally you would have optimized your pages
for this term to try to get a listing on the first page of
the search engines (SERPs) to capitalize on this traffic.

Then you would have focused on optimizing a webpage for
the next highest keyword phrase - and then the next - and
then the next. And so on.

Basically most people only ever focus their efforts on the
top 20 search terms and forget about the rest as there just
doesn’t seem to be enough reward in optimizing a webpage on
a long-tail keyword phrase that only gets a handful of
visitors each day.

For instance, a long-tail keyword for your fishing site
may be “saltwater fly fishing reel”, but as this term only
gets about 50 searches a month you decide to forget about
it. It’s just not worth the effort, particularly when you
can get 60,000 visitors by optimizing for a more popular
keyword.

But let’s face it. There are only 10 spots on the first
page of any search engine, so the odds of you being able to
gain a top spot for competitive keywords such as “fly
fishing” is remote at best. However this doesn’t deter most
people as the lure of a share of 60,000 visitors is just
too compelling.

The end result is that for most people this just doesn’t
happen and as a result they never achieve the traffic they
hope for. So they give up trying and never reach the
heights that they expected.

But here’s the real twist…

Some of the marketers who do get lucky and get a high
listing for one of their main keywords still don’t see the
long-term rewards they had thought they would achieve with
a top search engine listing for a popular keyword. And it’s
all due to not focusing on the “long-tail”.

Let me give you an example to explain what I mean.

For one moment let’s assume you have built a fishing
website and after a lot of effort and hard work you finally
achieve the #1 spot for your top keyword. In fact, your top
20 keywords are sending you 10,000 visitors a day to your
website from the search engines and you’re making a good
income from monetizing this traffic.

You’re getting heaps of free traffic and the money is
rolling in. What more could you ask for. Life is great!

The trouble is that in your excitement to optimize your
site for the top keywords in your niche
, you forget about
the long-tail keywords. But hey, who cares. Your top
keywords bring in 95% of your traffic, so you don’t need to
worry about the smaller stuff. It’s just not worth the
effort.

Then you wake up one morning and check your web stats.
Disaster!

Your traffic has dropped from 10,000 to a mere 500
overnight. You hurriedly check the position of your
keywords and discover that Google has had a dreaded update
and you’re no longer on the front page for your main
keywords. In fact, you’ve gone from the first page to the
7th page.

All of a sudden instead of earning $10k per month, you’re
looking at maybe $500 if you’re lucky. Basically your
entire business has been destroyed overnight. And if you
think this is an isolated case, think again. This scenario
is repeated every time the search engines update their
algorithms.

Now imagine that rather than just focusing entirely on the
popular keywords, you decided to focus on the long-tail
keywords to drive traffic to your site. But rather than
focus on just a few long-tail keywords, you focus on 200
such keywords. Combined these keywords can drive more
traffic to your site than what your most competitive
keywords can.

Yes it’s a lot more work, but remember you want to build a
long-term sustainable online business, so it’s not going to
be easy. But the rewards will be worth it.

And here’s the real exciting part - you are getting
traffic from a wider range of keywords. So if one of your
top rankings keywords bites the dust, it won’t have a huge
affect on your business as you don’t have all your eggs in
one basket.

Not only this - but people who search using long-tail
keywords are highly targeted potential customers. They have
already done their preliminary searches and are now totally
focused on exactly what they want and therefore they are
more likely to convert to customers than someone who does a
broader keyword search.

So while you may not get as many visitors to your site if
you focus your efforts on long-tail keywords, your visitors
are more likely to convert into customers at a much higher
rate - plus you have created a LONG-TERM business in that
you are not at the mercy of the search engines and it is
unlikely that you would be wiped out overnight.

So the next time you built a niche site, don’t forget to
go long for the longer term!

How To Write, Sell And Promote An Ebook - Part 3

November 27, 2006 2:13 pm

Another problem that most ebook authors encounter is the pricing scale of the material. When selling your ebooks, sell it at a price that you think it deserves.

Make your topic precise up to the last details so that you will know who your audiences are, making it easier for you to come up with a price that you think they can afford.

The price of your ebook should not exceed the financial capabilities of your buyers.

When a person thinks that your ebook is too expensive, it will not sell well. When doing your pricing research, always have your buyer’s financial capabilities in mind.

Always keep in mind that the number of pages of your ebook does not affect your pricing quotes. I’ve always believed that the quantity of words does not make an ebook more reliable. It is the whole content that matters.

So no matter what the size of your ebook is, if you think that it has something good to offer, then mark it with a good price that you think you and your buyers can mutually profit from.

Ebook theft security
We may say that the majority of people who uses the Internet are honest, but you must accept the fact that some people will try their best to steal your products.

For this particular reason, it is important that you take some measures to ensure that your product is not being illegally copied or distributed.

Copyright logos are not enough to keep your ebooks secured; even signatures can easily be altered and erased.

So what is the best way to make my ebook secure? Simply have it registered; a registered copyright can get legal action if those ebooks are ever stolen.

If you haven’t formally registered the work, then legally seeking compensation can be much more difficult.

If you are hesitant about paying fees or financially lack the ability to register your copyrighted ebooks, then there are also other ways to put a mark on your ebook materials.

One way is to include your copyright statement at the bottom of every page of your book and your website and every document that you write that has something to do with your ebook.

Including a copyright statement is no guarantee that your work will not be stolen. It’s also no assurance that you’ll be able to recover royalties or loss of earnings from someone who infringes on your copyright.

But the good thing about having copyright statements on your ebook is that it marks your documents with legal assurances that whatever happens or wherever your documents go, it will be known that it was made by you.

It is also a good idea to designate an early page in your ebook for the sole purpose of displaying your copyright terms and statement.

Another good thing to do is to make a copy of your ebook in three forms: printed; on a diskette; on a CD-ROM. Put these three materials inside an envelope and have it mailed bearing your name as the recipient, via registered mail.

Then keep the receipt for the mail and when the package arrives at your home, put it in a safe place with the receipt without opening it. This is proof that you have the document in your possession on the date stated on the mail receipt.

If you have done this strategy before your ebook has gone live, then nobody should have a copy of your work before that day.

Here are some other pointers on how to boost the sales of your ebooks and make real good money.

Allow other publishers to have an excerpt of your ebook on their sites, allowing you more exposure. You can also make extra profits by making and selling monthly updates of your ebook.

You can also charge people a cheap price to read half of your ebook, and if they like it, you can just charge them the rest of the amount for the whole ebook.

When doing this, make sure to have some of those important catchy sentences cut off and have a quote in there saying, “continued in the full version.”

You can also offer freebies that are related to your ebooks. Just remember the following information you have read in this article and surely you’ll be on your way to a good ebook project that will really sell well in the Internet market.

Just believe in yourself and be patient; results in of industry are quite slow to come. But when the results arrive, they come by the lump-full.

How To Write, Sell And Promote An Ebook - Part 2

November 25, 2006 2:09 pm

Writing isn’t always an easy task, especially for those who are not that familiar with writing styles that can attract readers.

Attracting readers is not an easy task either. When writing your ebook, try to research about topics which you think has a great effect on many people, something that is regularly used but hardly ever talked about.

Like for example, almost 80 percent of the world population uses computers, but only half of them know how to use them properly or troubleshoot simple errors with them.

Some of them do not know the hidden attributes and features that their computers have.

And when certain errors occur, we go to technicians or online support that has ideas on how this thing works, instead of doing it ourselves because of the lack of knowledge that we have about these things.

These kinds of topics makes people scramble around to get a hold of your ebooks.

You can check online for some good materials you can start with. I usually check their reliability by verifying their listing with the Google search engine.

To do this, simply type the URL or the web address of your resource site into the keyword space on the Google search engine homepage. Then click search; if they are listed in the results, that means that you are getting a good site.

If no results are processed, that means that the site you are getting information from is probably unreliable or simply quoted as SPAM sites.

How to choose ebook titles?

The title of your ebooks also has a great effect on the sales and promotion of your ebooks, so be very choosy about your titles.

Always remember that titles sells ebooks. Ebook titles should be brief and catchy. Grab your reader’s attention; it often happens that an ebook has great content and even a great sales pitch, but their titles are dismal and boring, which will lead to them selling poorly.

Tap into your reader’s interest. Always keep in mind that you are not writing only for yourself, but for your readers as well. Always have them in mind when writing.

So, how do you do this? Simply by identifying what that interest is and clearly communicating this in your title.

For example, you’ve selected dieting as your ebook subject area - and you discover that what your market is really interested in right now is diets that are not dangerous to their health.

Your title could be something like:

WARNING: What You Don’t Know about South Beach Diets That May Hurt You.

When working with your ebook title, create anticipation; don’t directly discuss everything and make your title too long and boring. You can also put emphasis on the words that may elicit reactions from your readers.

Having read those entire “how to write ebooks” stuff, I assume that you already have certain points of view on how to start writing your ebooks. But handling an ebook project is not just about writing and doing extravagant thinking about its title.

Writing ebooks and selling then also needs some promotion. So how do you sell and promote an ebook? Ebooks can be sold either offline and online, but selling ebooks started out on the Internet market first.

First thing is to write your 36 second “tell and sell.” You only have a few seconds to impress your buyers, so make use of it and don’t waste any time talking about crap. When promoting your ebooks, include your title, a few benefits, and the audience.

Add some interesting and sound words above your tell and sell. Make your billboards stand out on your sites and promotional materials.

Secondly, you should write your sales letter before you write your ebook. Your sales letter is used to promote your ebook either by email or via your Web site and it needs to fill your potential buyers’ wants and needs.

Include compelling ad copy, features, testimonials, and a small blurb about you, the author. If your potential buyer likes it, they will buy on the spot.

When writing your ebook, always think about your buyer, talk about his resistances, problems, and challenges. Come up with ebook material that can fully relate to your audience’s life experiences.

Always remember to design every part of your eBook to be a sales tool and a beacon that brings out your best. Your book can sell to thousands, even hundreds of thousands when you design it correctly.

How To Write, Sell And Promote An Ebook - Part 1

November 23, 2006 2:05 pm

Writing has been a part of people’s lives since the very beginning. Writing can be a product of a certain emotional outburst, a promotional propaganda to attract buyers, or sometimes as simple as a way to make money.

Even though the writing industry has not been a blatant form of living because not everybody is given the talents to create a good writing topic, it has existed and survived to the present day.

Today, with the use of technology, the task of writing and the long process of publishing and selling have been reduced to much easier tasks.

People now a days can just simply type on their computers and have their writings published on the Internet. And this is the birth of the so called ebooks.

What is an Ebook?

An ebook is a published material that is available in electronic format. These materials are usually available in PDF or Microsoft’s LIT format, but there are so many other ebook formats available as well.

A good eBook uses the technology effectively, with tables of contents that link to the correct chapters and search capabilities. Links to Web sites and other files also can be included.

How to write an Ebook?

With so many ebook topics available online, it is sometimes too difficult to write something that will sell. Or write something that will catch the attention of millions of online people who make up the Internet community. So how can you write an ebook that will sell?

According to some ebook communities, like the reliable, Open EBook Forum Society, the electronic publishing and standards organization, 660,991 ebooks were distributed and sold by writers and online retailers in the first half of 2003 and had a 40% increase last year.

Ebooks are the talk of the town these days, and the way things stand now, everybody is on the court to play around. All you need is a couple of bucks and a bit of sweat to have your own ebook ready for the market.

The technology is more accessible and affordable than it’s ever been. Before you start on your ebook idea, here are some tips and pointers to guide you in making your own ebook.

When creating your ebook, write something that you know about or something that you are passionate about and are an expert in. If you are not passionate enough or excited enough to write about a certain topic, you will probably just be bored.

Being in this kind of state may block out your imagination and eventually affect your writing. Always remember that your aura towards your topic will greatly affect the output of your materials.

Being bored will eventually show in your material, making the overall appearance of your writing sluggish. Your attitude towards the topic will affect the choice of your words.

Since you are not that interested in your topic, your readers might find your ebook material that way too.

Try to think of finding the key motivations that drove you to write your ebook and figuring out if you have what it takes to finish the project.

Too many people get inspired with a writing project and start it, only to lose focus and motivation half way through it.

Just about everyone can find the passion to start a project; the tough part is completing it.

Make sure to think of the business side of the situation. Too many people think loosely and overlook the business side of things, and frankly, that’s where the money is made.

You need to be prepared for the work involved. Think if you are financially capable of handling these things and always have a certain business or profit goal ahead of you so that you won’t forget that you are doing this for both interest and money matters.

Be brave and never turn down any ideas, even though some of them are already offset and quite silly, as you will never know if they will work out fine or not.

Finish up the topic first before judging it, as it is never too good to have criticism at the beginning of the material for this will just tone down your self-esteem and motivation.

There is always time for editing at the end when you see faults and off-key sentences.

Make your imagination run and stand by your own ideas.

The 60 Second Weekly Tip

How Long Before You Find a Profitable Niche?

Using Google Adwords is an excellent method of generating
an online income. But the question I get asked most is…
how many campaigns do you need to create before you find a
profitable one?

This will depend on the market and the product you are
promoting.

Some niche markets are made for internet sales and it will
be more like 1 in 7 - maybe more. Other markets might be a
tough sell online and it will take considerably more effort
to generate sales

You could have 2 or 3 profitable campaigns in a row - then
have 20 in a row that fail.

You could set up 30 campaigns and be lucky to get one
making you a couple of bucks a day, but number 31 makes you
rich overnight.

It depends on your approach and how thorough or targeted
your campaigns are. It will be much more difficult to turn
a profit on a campaign with 10,000 untargeted keywords than
a laser targeted campaign that focuses solely on
long-tailed keywords that attracts buyers like a magnet.

Some people have found instant success out of the starting
gates. Others struggle after months of losing money.

Does your approach mean the difference between success or
not?

Individual PPC businesses are all as unique as the
thousands of businesses you find offline. We all bring
something different to the table. We are all in different
markets and environments. And we all have different
experiences to start with.

One thing I have found that is universal is that applying
the techniques - learning them - studying them - and
practicing them will get you there faster.

But you do this, you must convince yourself to first take
action. Once you get over this hurdle you can then track
your successes and failure so you can determine what works
and what doesn’t. Then it’s just a simple matter of
transferring these results to your next campaign.

It’s amazing that the more ‘hands-on’ you become with your
online business, the better you get and the more profits
you make. You might not succeed with the very fist thing
you try, but each time you try you are one step closer to
achieving success.

Make No Mistake - Buzz Works

Viral marketing has matured a bit over the years. There
seems to have been a shift to the web not just being seen
by agencies and brands as another tick box for any ad
campaign, which is significant enough, but now being the
medium where a campaign is launched to create a buzz before
it hits TV and print.

For example, nowadays even before a movie is released
there is a pre-launch buzz-generation activity on the net.
Big business “gets it”.

Even traditional online marketers are now embracing the
“buzz” technique. One of the most recent examples of this
is Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon’s ‘StomperNet’ program.

They created a series of videos designed to create a buzz
online weeks before the program was actually released.
Everyone was talking about it and as a result they created
a hugely successful launch that sold out in less than 24
hours.

Make no mistake - Buzz works! And it can work for small
and start-up businesses as well.

The planning stage of a viral campaign will set out
objectives and develop the viral theme for a buzz. There
are three core components to any viral campaign and
businesses of any size can use them.

They are:

1. The Creative Material

The viral medium that embodies the message you want to
spread in a digital format (audio, video, pdf report, etc).
The trick is to put together material that people will be
eager to share with their family and friends. People are
much more eager to share “advertainment” than
advertisements.

2. Seeding

Distributing and placing the medium online in places that
provide the greatest potential spread. Direct viral material
downloads on specialist viral websites or creating JV
partnerships in order to create awareness before is an
excellent way to achieve this.

3. Tracking and Testing

Measuring the spread of the campaign to provide
accountability and prove success. It is absolutely vital
that you know what is or is not working. The only way to
get that information is to track and test the results of
your seeding.

Lessons have been learned, trends have been developed and
there is definitely some science involved in creating a
buzz successfully. The buzz technique is here to stay and,
if used strategically, it can make a difference to the
success of your online business.

Tips to Creating a Viral Marketing Campaign

It is a well known and widely accepted fact, that ebooks -
particularly free ebooks - are one of the best weapons in a
viral marketing campaign arsenal.

Ebooks are cheap to produce and don’t take long to set up.
If you have articles that you have already written about
the subject you are promoting, you can simply combine these
articles into an ebook.

If on the other hand writing isn’t your forte, you can use
rebrandable ebooks that have been produced by others. Just
use your favorite search engine and do a web search for
“rebrandable ebooks”. You will get a lot of hits and have
many to choose from.

One way to distribute these ebooks to your visitors is to
give them as a free gift for subscribing to your newsletter.
If your Ebook contains material that people will want to
share with their friends and family, they will pass it along
to them… they will pass it along to others… and you will
make money!

Ebooks are capable of reaching a large audience. The only
limiting factor is the enthusiasm or the participants.
Therefore it is absolutely vital that your ebook contain
something that people will want to share. Remember that
people like to know something that the rest of the world
needs to know. They will pass along something that makes
them look like they are in-the-know.

Ebooks can also be used as a great way to promote products
other than the one you originally targeted. For example; if
you are selling garden products, your customers could also
be interesting in ebooks about lawns, trees landscaping,
etc.

They are also very effective in building your reputation.
It is an implied recommendation if you give a quality ebook
and users willing pass on to others.

But ebooks aren’t the only way to create a viral marketing
campaign. Here are four additional ideas to help you start
your viral campaign:

1. If you have the ability to set up a forum or other
bulletin board, you really have a great tool. Allow people
to use your online discussion board for their own website.
Just include your banner ad at the top of the board.

2. Do you have a knack for web design? Create some
templates, graphics, etc. and upload them to your site.
Then, allow people to give away your free web design
graphics, fonts, templates, etc. Just include your ad on
them or require people to link directly to your web site.

Make sure that you include a link back to your site in the
copyright notice and require them to keep your copyright
notice in tact.

3. Write articles related to your product or service.
Allow people to reprint your articles on their website, in
their ezine, newsletter, magazine or ebooks. Include your
resource box and the option for article reprints at the
bottom of each article.

4. You can easily find products on the net that will sell
you a license allowing you to distribute the product free
of charge to other people. Look for those products that
provide “branding rights”. That is where you can include
your own name, website, and contact information.

Low Budget Affiliate Marketing

November 18, 2006 4:51 pm

You want to start an online business, but don’t have what it takes to start with your own products. You have the option of starting with affiliate marketing, selling other peoples’ products for a commission.

Affiliate marketing is a fabulous way to make money. In just the last few years, affiliate marketing has become a very powerful force in e-commerce.

Every day, thousands, if not millions, of merchants rely on affiliate marketing to drive their businesses. Clickbank is an excellent example.

Is the online affiliate market the way to go? You will never know unless you take the necessary steps. If you never try, then you cannot expect to succeed.

Make today the day that you commit to changing the direction of your life. Keep in mind, however, that affiliate marketing cannot guarantee you instant success if you don’t work at it.

But before you succeed in affiliate marketing, you need to spend a little bit of money so you can reap the reward later. Through proper budgeting, your investment can be lower.

Now that you know you must spend some money, it’s time to decide how much money you can afford to invest in your affiliate marketing business.

There are some expenses that you will have if you want to be successful. There are others that you can put off until the time you start earning income from your affiliate products. Some items that you will need to budget:

Domain Name. You must have a domain name. The domain name should relate to the subject. Keep your domain name simple and easy to remember.

There is quite a span between the low-cost and the high-end cost of domain names. If you shop around, you may even be able to find something less expensive. But make sure it’s a well-established company!

You don’t want to lose your domain name once you have decided on it! You will likely get a better deal if you register your domain name for two or more years in advance. I use and recommend www.GoDaddy.com.

Website Hosting. Fees for web hosting can vary dramatically from company to company. Set up a comparison chart and write down each company you are considering.

Some companies offer rates as low as $2 a month, while others charge over $100. The highest rates don’t always translate into the best service.

Some of the lower-priced hosts offer a reliable, stable environment that allows your website to be accessed around the clock for years, like Powweb.

Merchant Account. You don’t have to invest thousands of dollars to open a merchant account. Find a merchant account vendor through a local financial institution, like a bank, and discuss the possibilities that will best suit your business and your customers.

A merchant account will let you start accepting credit card payments for customer purchases, which will enhance the shopping experience for most customers and earn your company a progressive reputation.

Never assume you will have extravagant monthly charges when you open a merchant account. Shop around, ask questions, and compare costs to get the best low cost merchant account available for your business.
Your customers will thank you with repeat and additional business.

Software and Scripts. You will need spreadsheet software to track your expenses and income from your affiliate business. This is a suite of tools that works like Microsoft Office.

You may or may not need website scripts depending on how elaborate you want your website to be.

Advertising. The best marketing tip you will ever hear is to advertise your product or business. In today’s market, anyone in business knows that advertising is the backbone to your success.

Even with the greatest product on the planet, a product that you know everyone needs and wants, without advertising, it’s just an idea going nowhere.

Make sure you check out the best ways for you to advertise your business. It can be a very fun, profitable, and easy experience with the right tools.

Education. Ongoing education is going to be extremely important to your affiliate marketing success. You will not have to purchase a lot of educational materials if you don’t want to.

There are many free resources, such as newsletters, that you can study.

Seeing your expenses for the whole year is a great way to keep them under control. What is the final total? Does that seem extreme?

Remember, this is for an entire year. Keep it in perspective. If you intend to have a real business, you must treat it as a real business.

Using Trading To Gain Advantage Over Your Competition

November 16, 2006 4:31 pm

If you have a business on the Internet, you should be trading goods and services with other businesses. You should always try to trade first for something before you buy it.

Barter deals usually require no money. Although sometimes you may need money to offset the value of the goods or services being traded.

Keep in mind that joint venture is an agreement in which two or more businesses work on a project for a set period of time.

Joint ventures can be long-term, like promoting a product together, or some can be short-term, like bartering or trading products and services. Joint venture ideas are virtually endless.

Trading will give you many advantages over your competition. It can save your business money. You can spend the extra money on a buying paid Internet advertising. It allows you to offer your products and services at a lower price other than your competition. You can afford to get the higher priced goods and services to compete on the Internet.

There are numerous ways to find trade deals online. Set up a barter message board or chat room on your web site to get more barter offers. Note on your web site or e-zine you are willing to barter for goods and services. Join newsgroups or e-mail discussion groups that are about bartering.

Join an online barter club to meet other businesses that barter. Find web sites that barter by looking up the keywords barter, trade, or swap in your search engine of choice.

There are a few things you should do before trading. Compile a list of your goods and services you are willing to trade. Make a list of goods and services you need or want for your online business. Know the approximate cash value of the things you are trying to trade and the value of the things you are seeking in return.

All of this information can help you negotiate a successful trade deal.

When proposing a trade offer, tell the person the benefits of the deal. Explain to them why it would be a win-win situation. Give their business many compliments in your proposal. Prove to them why it would be a fair trade. This type of proposal can increase your chances off them saying “Yes, I will trade with you”.

Trading can build long lasting business relationships, increase your credibility by teaming up with other reputable branded businesses, you can have access in getting free products and services, and you can construct most joint venture deals with little or no money. Also you can gain new leads and customers and you get discounts on products and services.

What are the ten things you should trade for before buying?

1. Information Products - it could be ebooks, “how to” videos, cassettes, magazines, newsletters, paid e-zines, courses, etc.

2. Advertising Space - it could be banner ads, ezine ads, ebook ads, magazine ads, newspaper ads, tv ads, fax ads, online classified ads, etc.

3. Web Hosting - you could offer a free advertisement for their web hosting service on your site in return for free or discounted hosting.

4. Software - it could be for tax software, web site authoring software, accounting software, newsletter software, graphic design software, etc.

5. Writing/Editing - it could be for web site content, promotional articles, press releases, e-zine articles, promotional ebooks, etc.

6. Accounting/Bookeeping - you could offer a no cost advertisement in exchange for their accounting and booking services.

7. Consulting - it could be market consulting, legal consulting, computer/software consulting, business consulting, etc.

8. Copy writing - it could be for brochures, business cards, classified ads, sales letters, product packages, banner ads, promotional products, etc.

9. Merchant Accounts - you could offer no cost insert ads in your product packages in exchange for the option of accepting credit cards.

10. Internet Access - you could offer a no cost pop up ad on your web site in exchange for free or discounted Internet access.

Bear in mind that if you have a business, you should be trading goods and services with other related businesses. Try to trade for something before you buy it. Barter deals usually require little or no money. It might just work wonders for you and your venture.

How to Create a Joint Venture to Build Your List

Ezines have become very popular and if you have a decent
size list that is tightly relevant to your niche market,
why wouldn’t you be successful at it? You have more
control. You know what your audience wants and you have a
direct access to them.

Ezines are especially a good thing if you can write
articles or if you have them written for you. You can
establish your expertise and create interest within the
article and have a link to your site or product.

I personally like ezine owners that not only send out your
article to their readers via their ezine, but also post
your article on their site (with a link back to your
website). This gives you the best of both worlds.

Yes, there are going to be a lot of factors to consider in
finding the right ezine, such as volume, the quality of the
content, how qualified the list is, etc. So not all ezine
will produce outstanding results.

The secret is to find relevant ezines that target a group
of people who have interest in what you’re doing.

Of course you can certainly pay to advertise in ezines,
but I personally like free advertising. And creating join
ventures with other ezine publishers is the perfect way to
do this.

You can create an ebook or a report that targets to a
specific group of readers and then create a JV with another
publisher to give it away to their readers. There are heaps
of ezine publishers that would love to do that. Why
wouldn’t they want to give their subscribers something
free? It’s a great reflection on themselves.

That’s how a most of the successful marketers build their
email lists. They do an ezine swap or put together mutually
beneficial deals and send them to each others lists.
There’s basically no investment in doing this, just a
little effort.

This is a great method used by many savvy marketers and it
has had a tremendous influence on their long-term results.

Real-Life Tips to Creating a Money Making Website

A friend of mine had been struggling with a website of
his. Someone had convinced him to build a website in a real
competitive market and then drive traffic to it using
Google Adwords.

His plan was to provide information for the visitor (which
he did a good job with) and then send his visitors to
targeted products via his affiliate links.

Well based on my advice he has now decided to pursue a new
website. This time related to one of his interests. It’s a
more of a niche and I know he’ll do much better.

Here are some of the comments I gave him that you could
also find useful if your website is not performing as you
would have hoped:

Adwords can be discouraging, but maybe it’s not the
traffic. It’s more than likely the type of market you are
trying to target

When I first started out all I did was send people
straight to the merchant site. I went through site after
site before I found profitable sites that converted.
Download sites were good, and so were dog training sites.

Some I would get 100s of clicks, but I was spending more
than I was making. It’s still trial and error with landing
pages. At first you never know what’s going to convert, so
you have to test to see what does or doesn’t work.

One thing that’s helped me is I make sure that the site
I’m sending people to is professional and reputable. Brand
names help. I also targeted affiliate programs that have
high payouts of $25 or more a sale. That way I know I have
a chance of making some money.

The biggest mistake I made was that the first day of doing
Adwords I set the per click to like $5 - ouch. Luckily my
budget was only $25. I used up the budget in about a half
hour and never made a single sale.

Nowadays I very rarely bid over 10 cents. Maybe 25 cents
on specific keywords if I know the conversion rate is good,
but not much more.

Using Adwords is a process. So I wouldn’t give up on it as
a way to drive traffic to your site. You just need to test
a different market or different affiliate products to see
if the conversion is better.

You also need to consider multiple streams of income on
your website. There’s a lot of potential online and the
best way to ensure your success is to make sure you create
multiple ways of generating an income from your visitors.

Maybe write an ebook to sell or give away (Viral Marketing).
You also need to write articles and create a newsletter so
that you can build a targeted list. Not everyone buys on the
first visit to your website. So having a newsletter will
allow you to capture visitors and convert them into
customers in the future.

If you could create a decent ebook and sell it for 25
bucks or something like that it may be the icing on the
cake. And don’t forget to give some bonuses away with it to
see if it helps conversions.

Then you can drive traffic to the site to test different
aspects of your sales page to get maximum, conversions,
such as the headline, colors, bullet points, placement of
ads etc.

Adsense is another good source of income. You have to have
some good traffic to make a lot of money, but I was
surprised when I started using it as a strategy throughout
my websites. Hey, even if it’s just 30, 40 or 50 dollars a
month, it can pay some of your expenses.

Then you can go after the free traffic from the search
engines as well.

Submitting to directories is a great way to get the Search
Engines to take notice. I don’t recommend even submitting
to Search Engines anymore. You can get crawled by the
search engine spider much quicker by getting some links
coming to your website.

Writing articles can get you a little traffic rolling as
well. And it’s a great way to establish yourself as an
expert in your field. The inbound links also help with your
position in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS).

Just be aware that finding a success market happens faster
for some than others. So don’t give up on your first
attempt. You need to give it time and have a lot of
patience to find the right mix. So doing a combination of
things can really help.

Everyone can make a living online, but it can take a lot
of hard work sometimes. Many people give up before they
find good income, but it is possible for everyone.

Most importantly, keep learning. I learn something new
everyday. I hang out in forums, read articles, ebooks,
reports, etc. I’m continually soaking up information. You
have to learn the newest techniques and strategies to keep
up with your competition.

Just go out there and do it - and I’ll see you at the top!

Effective Marketing Strategies
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Harnessing the Awesome Power of Forums

It truly is amazing. The longer you’ve been online, the
more you realize just how small the Internet community
really is. Sure there are millions of people online, but
there are many tight-knit communities where like minded
people hang out and share information.

I run into people I know in different forums all the time.
In fact, just today right out of the blue I had someone
email that I’ve bumped into on a few times at one of the
forum I visit regularly.

And this is not the first time. It happens all the time.

That’s a good thing. That’s part of doing business online
and networking. But you also build personal relationships
with some. You share personal experiences. You help each
other out through good times AND the bad times.

If you haven’t already done so, find a good forum to hang
around in. There are some bad ones, but if you take the
time and do some research you’ll find the good ones
relating to your niche market, hobby or interest.

Just start hanging around. You’ll soon start to get to
know the people. Then you can start jumping in and
participating.

There are forums for everything. Whatever you’re involved
in. If you’ve got a career or an interest, there’s a forum
for it. If you have a hobby, there’s a forum for that as
well. I mostly hang around Internet marketing and other
business related forums. I don’t know where I would be
today if I hadn’t discovered their power.

Beyond relationships you can learn endless things. Not
just anything - things drawn from other people’s
experiences that could take you years to learn by yourself.
It’s better than a textbook. It’s interactive.

If you ask a question there is usually someone waiting
with an answer. You can also search the databases of
threads that could contain untold information.

So that begs the question - how do you enter a forum?

That sounds silly doesn’t it? Why would you have to learn
how to enter a forum? You just sign up and post right?

On the surface it may seem that easy, but I see a lot of
people having a real hard time with this task. Naturally
over time forums create a very tight community, and
eventually everyone learns the rules and looks out for each
other.

Different forums approach how you display links differently
or even what you can talk about. So that’s the first thing
you need to do. Read the rules!

The other thing is don’t come in with all guns blazing and
tooting your own horn!

Don’t try to prove yourself and get too excited about
showing everyone how knowledgeable or smart you are about a
certain topic. Get to know the community first. Hang out
for a while. Introduce yourself politely, there’s usually a
separate area set aside for intros. Then start browsing.

Get to know the other posters. Remember a lot of these
people have known each other for a while. They may even be
doing business behind the scenes. Once you have a feel for
it, start helping out.

If you have any knowledge to contribute, provide it. Help
people with things you know about.

Learn - Read - Learn. Then read some more and ask
questions. Then let it rip if you want to.

The bottom line is very few people can go crazy right off
the bat. There are exceptions here or there, but usually
the community wants to see you contribute for a while
before you get bold. They need to get to know you.

Definitely don’t provide a sales pitch in your first post.
You will getting flaming posts and anger the community.
Everyone will see it as spam.

It’s just like building any relationship. Easy at first
until you get to know each other.

Forums can be extremely powerful tools. Don’t abuse that
power. And don’t ruin your reputation.

Mastering Joint Ventures

November 11, 2006 10:27 pm

Automate your communication with JVs, but keep it personal at the same time

Joint Ventures leverage efforts to bring your products to entirely new markets. They may reverse your exposure to risk, earn more profit per sale, or boost your total sales volume.

Communication is a good thing in any kind of business. These are to motivate your employees, in this case, your partners. Communication should be frequent and used to create a common vision, establish a connection with leadership, explain the new rules, support the individual transition process, aid in retention, and ultimately, define the new organization in terms of “We” instead of an “It” or “They.” Share as much information as you can.

Let the bots do the work

Many business people would prefer to have robots do certain tasks to free up their own time. Having to respond or communicate with many JV’s is a task, so this calls for automated communication with the help of robot programs.

Robots don’t complain, rob the time-clock, or call in sick before heading to the beach, but they aren’t practical for many types of work and the cost is exorbitant.

Unlike conventional robots, email autoresponders are inexpensive and very practical for automating the task of delivering specific types of information to your partners.

An autoresponder is like an email version of Fax On Demand. Also called a mail robot or mailbot, it is a truly automated special program that runs on a computer via an Internet server.

When email is sent to it, it responds by automatically returning specific files back to the sender’s email address. This also works the other way around: if you want to communicate with your prospects due to inactivity in responding to your letter, the bot will automatically send another email to inform the said party.

This means that it will send an instant communication to your partners online without doing anything, thus sending your own pre-made letter to your prospects seven days a week, all without the need for a human to follow up each lead. The procedure is on full autopilot.

Its objective is to respond to requests for more information on products, services, or opportunities and bring in enough profit from the small percentage of follow-ups that will increase the number of buyers to cover all expenses and confidently make revenues.

The following example of sending a FAQ is just one example of the different uses for autoresponders. They can also be used for price lists, sales letters, catalogs, or most any other text file that you want to automatically send.

They have even been set up to send the text of an entire book by email; however, you must be clever in writing your letter in order to make it personal and genuine, with little chance of it being recognized as an automated response.

Suppose you kept a careful record of all the questions your partners and prospects ask about your products and services day in and day out over a period of time.

As you analyze these questions, most likely you’ll find that a majority of questions are the same ones asked over and over again that you spend much time and money on answering over and over again.

You could then prepare a text file containing a FAQ or list of Frequently Asked Questions, including detailed answers to them, and set up an autoresponder for automatically sending it out by email.

Then all your prospects have to do are send an email message to the autoresponder, and within a manner of seconds or a few minutes, receive your automated response in his or her e-mail box.

Your partners get most of his questions answered quickly, without any human intervention, and you save time and money in the process, which you can use more efficiently in other areas.

When such prospects get in touch with you later, they will be better informed about your offers, and thus, provide better business as your partners and become that much closer to doing business with you.

While this method won’t totally eliminate time and money spent on partners and prospects, you won’t have to spend as much of those precious resources responding to inquiries, because your FAQ, or your pre-made message available via an automated responder, answers most questions before they ask you.

This will make it big in the long run; hence, netting you a good ranking in the top search engines, which of course leads to a good amount of money.
