An autoresponder is software that allows you to capture
contact information, such as names and email addresses,
so that the information can be put into a database so
that you can email your offers to your list again and
again.

This software is essential to your online business
because significant profits are made when you have
your own list. That’s why it’s important to have
autoresponder software.

There are two ways to have autoresponder software.

1. You can purchase autoresponder scripts that are
available online. Purchasing an autoresponder script
allows you to install the script on your own server, which
allows you to control every aspect of the software.

Having the script on your own server and controlling every
aspect of the software are two benefits of this choice.

Another benefit is that you don’t have to pay
a monthly fee to have autoresponder service.
You pay once for the script and that’s it!

However, there are negatives with this choice
as well.

If anything happens to your server, you won’t
have autoresponder service.

Besides that, you have to provide your own
backup lists (which you should do anyway, but
it’s essential with this option) in case
something happens to your server or the
software itself. Otherwise, you lose your
lists!

2. The second choice is to sign up with an
autoresponder service that will provide
autoresponders for you for a monthly fee.

Here is an option for you to consider:

The benefits of this choice are that the
software is located on their servers, so that
it something happens to your server, you won’t
lose your autoresponders.

The autoresponder companies usually back-up
your lists with one or two additional copies.
However, you should still back-up your list
as well - it’s a good habit to get into!

The negatives of this choice include not
having total control over the autoresponders
themselves (although most companies give you
options and provide you with what you absolutely
need to run a successful online business, so this
isn’t a major negative.)

Also, you have to pay a monthly fee for the
service. Several companies provide cheaper
prices if you commit to them over a longer
period of time (i.e. commit to them for a
year and the monthly price is less.)

Please NOTE: There are free autoresponder
services available, but the drawback here is
that the company gets to place an ad in each
autoresponder message you send out.

This takes away from the focus of your message
and your message isn’t as effective, so it’s
essential that you get your own paid
autoresponder service as soon as possible
(preferably when you start your online
business.)

Once you choose the autoresponder that you feel
best fits the needs of your business and budget,
you need to learn how to write good autoresponder
messages to fully utilize your autoresponder
service.
