December 2nd Week

You’ve no doubt probably heard of RSS, but if you’re new
to the net you may be wondering what in the heck does it
mean?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site.

It also has been referred to as a “pull” technology rather
than a “push” technology. And, in fact, this feature is
what makes RSS so popular in terms of today’s Internet
usage.

It’s probably hard to argue that anyone who uses the
Internet today hasn’t heard of spam. If they have an email
inbox it is probably full of it.

Spam, for the uninitiated, is the receipt of unwanted
emails from people whom you did not request to receive
information. Spam represents the “push” technology. That
is, people “push” their email message at your inbox,
whether you have asked to receive the email or not.

And that aspect of “push” technology is what many have
come to believe is the death of email. It’s arguable that
email will still be around for quite a long time, even
though there are still people who continue to sp’am.

In fact, companies are making sqillions just providing
everyday users, as well as huge corporations, solutions
claiming to solve their spam problem.

RSS, on the other hand, can be said to be the exact
opposite of the email “push” technology. Because you cannot
“push” your message to subscribers.

The only way that people can subscribe to an RSS feed is
to do so voluntarily. And, at the same time, they can
unsubscribe whenever they want.

That’s why it’s called a “pull” technology. Because
subscribers “pull” information into their readers and, if
the content isn’t what they expect, they can unsubscribe
whenever they’d like.

So, unlike the email “push” technology, there is no one
using RSS that is experiencing an inbox full of spam. All
they have to do is to unsubscribe and they will never
receive another message from the person who provided the
feed.

RSS has become a popular way to make money on line too.
And that is due in part to the popularity of the RSS “pull”
technology. Here’s one way of monetizing a website using
RSS feeds.

Imagine setting up a static one page web site - a minisite
if you will. Now, add either Google Adsense code or the new
Yahoo version of the Google Adsense style ads that, when
clicked by a visitor - you earn cash.

This gives you a nice starting point and, if you optimize
your web page properly, there is a good chance you will get
a high ranking in the search engines. And, the more people
who see your page, the more likelihood they will click on
one of the links on your web page and you’ll earn revenue
from the click.

But RSS provides an even greater potential. Because by
adding an RSS feed to that same web page, you turn a static
web page that only contains the information you placed on
it, into a dynamic ever changing web page that others will
likely come back more than once to read.

After all, once someone has read a one page web site, what
incentive is there for them to come back? Plenty, if you
use RSS feeds on your web page. It is possible to add 5, 10
or 15 feeds on your once static web page and now, you’ve
got a page that automatically updates itself and provides
something that people will want to come back to read time
and time again.

You can easily convert any web page into a dynamic web
page using free RSS creator software. One of the most
popular free versions is called Carp and you can download
it at this web link: geckotribe.com.

Once you’ve set this program up on your website and added
the proper code to your website, then you will need to
collect RSS feeds that relate to the topic of your web page.

Let’s say that the topic of your web page is flower
gardens. You could go to Google News and get their RSS feed
code, place it into the appropriate position in your Carp
coding you put on your web page and then adjust the code as
follows…

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&q=flower+gardens&ie=UTF-
8&output=rss

You can also get a similar feed from Topix.net and you’d
adjust the code like this…

http://rss.topix.net/search/?q=flower+gardens&xml=1

Now, once you have uploaded your web page, your site will
automatically pull in fresh information from Google and
Topix about flower gardens. Simply follow this illustration
for any web page you’d like to monetize and watch your
search engine ranking soar and also your bank account!

Good luck!

Monetizing Your Website!

Many people are now realizing that good money can be made
from Adsense and it is a great additional source of
revenue.

Google Adsense is a fast and easy way for website
publishers of all sizes to display relevant context-based
Google ads on their web pages and earn an additional income
stream in the process.

The ads displayed are related to what your users are
looking for on your site so it is offering an alternative
option to them, and this is the main reason why you can
monetize and enhance your content pages using Adsense.

How much you earn will depend on a number of factors, one
of which is how much the Google advertisers are willing to
pay for keywords relative to your niche topic.

If the keywords the advertiser have chosen are in high
demand, you will receive a higher return than those words
that have little or no competition. Of course your income
will be soley dependant on how many visitors your have, and
the old saying “build it and they will come” may just
become a reality.

If you build you site using quality keyword-rich content,
then you have a good chance of gaining a high ranking in
the search engines and the higher ranking you can achieve,
the more traffic you will receive.

So, how can you start benefiting from using Adsense?

1. First, if you haven’t already, apply for an Adsense
account by submitting your application here:

(Click the button, it will only take a few
minutes of your time)2. When your site is accepted, you will be allocated a
publishers code that will be inserted into the code you
need to place in your web pages. You can insert this code
on as many pages or web sites that you want. AdWords that
are highly relevant to your site will begin to appear
almost immediately thereafter.

3. You will begin to earn as much as a few dollars or as
little as a few cents each time your visitors click on the
ads displayed on your web pages.

A word of warning… trying to earn false revenues by
clicking on your own ads is a huge no-no and doing this can
have your account terminated. If this happens any income
you have credited to your account will be forfieted! So
whatever you do, NEVER click on your own ads.

4. View your statistics and test to see which Adsense ad
format provides the best results. You can do this by
customizing your ads to blend-in with the design of your
website so that they don’t look like ads. This will
generate a higher CTR (click-thru-ratio), which in turn
will generate higher earnings.

It usually takes time, combined with trial and error, to
attain the right “look & feel” of your ads, so you need to
continue to test to determine what works best for your site.

So this begs the question… How do you improve your
Adsense earnings?

1. Choose one topic per page. It is best to use content
for your page with just a few targeted phrases. The search
engine will then serve ads that are more relevant, which
will then result in higher clickthoughs.

Of course the more relevant your content, the higher the
probability of achieving a good search engine ranking for
your keywords, which converts to more visitors!

2. Using white space around your ads. This can make your
Adsense ad blocks more visible so visitors can spot them
easily. You don’t want the ads to stand out like a beacon
in the night, as this will scream “this is an ad” to your
visitors. You just need to ensure that they are easily
seen. Nothing more, nothing less!

3. Test your ad placement. It is recommended to use both
the rectangle and square ad formats and place them at the
top of your page,a s this has proven to achieve more
positive results. You should also test horizontal and
vertical formats to see which ones give you better results.

4. More content-based pages. Expand the theme of your
website by creating additional pages that focus more on
your keyword phrases. This will optimize the pages for the
search engines, which in turn will attract more traffic, as
well as to make your pages more relevant for Adsense.

5. Rinse and repeat. Once you’ve completed one site, start
on the next site and repeat all the above steps to create
an adsense empire that contains many sites. If you can
generate $20 per month from just one site, just imagine how
much you can earn with 60, 80 or 100 sites :-)

In summary, building Adsense sites is an excellent method
for generating an alternative income stream to that of your
existing business and it should form part of your overall
strategy.

3 Tips to Help Cure Your Fear of Change?

Usually people are afraid of bad changes, things that
affect their existence in a negative way. The question
arising is how to cure our fears of change?

The most important thing is to understand that life is
always made from ups and downs and nobody can be in a
permanent ascending trend, simply because that is
impossible. Even the most envied stars experience the downs
life has to offer, so nobody can avoid them.

However, the most important thing is not how to avoid
changes, fears and bad experiences, but how to learn from
them. It is crucial not to let problems overwhelm you, but
to know how to use them in your favor.

There is no doubt that problems affect us, which is
actually normal, due to the fact that we have feelings,
but, nevertheless, every single hard moment of our lives
should make us even stronger.

This is why specialists suggest that you should always
analyze and meditate on the worse situation you had to deal
with, in the course of your life. Try to learn from your
mistakes, because they will help you be prepared for the
changes or less pleasant situations to come.

There are many ancient beliefs that consider that every
single episode of our lives happens with a pre-determined
reason. They also think that life, somehow prepares us for
certain events to come, so if we focus enough attention on
our previous experiences, we will understand many things
from the present.

With all that, it is also true that the unexpected can
happen anytime. However, you should keep in mind that a
change in not always for the worse and consequently, you
must never let go of a chance, because you are afraid to
take the risk.

Remember that, from time to time, something has to happen
in order to free you from monotony, so you shouldn’t be
surprised if, at a certain moment in time, instead of being
afraid of change, you desire it with all your heart.

If you just don’t feel capable of realizing what a certain
change in your life actually means, here’s a list of tips
that might help you get mobilized:

* Try to think only of the positive impacts that will
result after the change. See how important they are and
meditate upon how to multiply them, by adding some other
good aspects, which need certain assistance.

* It is always good to picture somebody else in your
situation, as picturing ourselves in a less desirable
position, always looks more dramatic than it really is.

If you realize that the other person can handle the
change, you can be sure you’ll be able to handle it as well.

* Imagine the worse situation that can result after the
change. Now try to find various solutions to it. Meditate
on how much you can loose, if the worst happened, and how
important those things are to you.

If you find more than one reasonable solution, you are
safe - the change can’t be stronger than you are!
